Question Retrofitting 850 ac on 940?

Thinking of doing some convenience mods on my Volvo. One of them is fitting an ac system, since currently there is none. Locally it would be very difficult to source an ac system from a 940 (I live in eastern europe), so i had the idea of trying to fit it from an 850

Could such an operation be possible? I realize there would be an issue with brackets and possibly hoses (guessing some would be too short) but besides that what could be the hold up? Or is not worth it the hassle and better just to look for an ac system in other countries?

No 960/S90/V90 parts in your area?

Did your car used to have A/C? Does it even have the evaporator in the dash? Never seen a 700/900 that didn't come with A/C since that never happened in the US. I suspect fitting an 850 A/C system won't be much different from custom fitting an A/C system from any other car. If you want it to straightforward just find any 700/900 car with A/C and it should fit.

Traveling a thousand km to find a 940 with a/c would be easier than retrofitting anything. And there are plenty left in Europe.

New a/c parts are fairly cheap, what parts do you have and what are you missing?

Have you checked Skandix as they are in Germany and surely must be able to get almost everything you need for it. A bracket you can get used I am sure and then everything else is fairly cheap to do new parts to last.

You might as well buy a 850 with working a/c instead of trying to fit the a/c system on a 940, it'll be cheaper and easier.
