Or a complete R25 V6 turbo intake...I hope it's far easier to find and I'm sure it's cheaper as Alpine parts...

Tagoras are non existant in OZ...and the intakes are made of unobtainium pretty much anywhere.
I did a lot of research on intakes when I had a Peugeot 604 with the really stupid twin carb intake, one single choke, one twin choke, stupid setup that went out of tune all the time and sucked ballz.
I did hear of one guy here who managed to track down a Tagora intake but it cost him $$$$$$$
Could build an intake and run triple Weber pattern throttle bodies cheaper.....

You're probably better off getting the head etc from a Renault with the Turbo'd V6

Like these parts

Even better would be finding an engine from a Renault Safrane BiTurbo (like this one )or Renault Alpine A610 with the Turbo'd PRV again... at least with the Alpine it seems to have been sold in States, which makes it possible for the Yanks to get hold of it.

I'm not sure if the Alpine was sold in Aus; I doubt it though.
I did own a 3.0l 24V motor from a Citroen XM till earlier this year, realised I would rather a V8 than a very oddball V6 though in my 760 when this motor dies again. And the stock manifold flows well and I like EFi, stuff carbs on a late 80's car!

But the guy who owns my 24V motor now, has a twin turbo 505 Pug which has internals from a turbo Renault (sleeves and pistons and rods), the car makes 240rwkw's on 15psi, he drives it on semi slicks and takes it to lots of track days. But in general getting the Renault Laguna 3l V6 is the way to go now for more power as they have high comp stock and better flowing heads.

Brett: yes, I left the heads like that, polishing doesn't seem to produce many gains and it's smoother than the rough casting it did have.

From what I have heard the best finish for inlet ports is around 80 grit sanded.
Any finer and it actually breaks down boundary layer flow and has a negative effect.
Exhaust polish away by all means, but again not much benefit going to all that much effort.

Yeah Ed, French orphans are cool....wish I still had my 604!
I know where there is a 605 I can get cheap....compared to that the 604 was common!
around 600 604s sold here...about 50 605s.
I know someone with a factory 505 V6 manual too, never sold here at all, private import.

How many Volvo engines did they fit into Laguna's?! They also used the 5 cylinder IIRC (or was that in the Safrane)

It was a PRV, so of course the used them! Safrane seemed to use a few other Volvo motors but looked like using whiteblock 4cyls..

It's the oversteer that scares passengers. It's the understeer that scares the driver.

So the car was shown on the ozvolvo forum to be for sale both times on ebay. I bid on it, was outbid by not much, at $114, of course the guy wasn't interested. I persisted and contacted the seller saying I didn't want to see the car scrapped. So Eventually I was talked to bring the price up after realising he wasn't too keen to fix the engine issue (no compression in all cylinders). The car is mostly pretty good, 740 rear springs and shocks to replace nivomats and other small things to make it nicer like the tint.

Drove down to Kilmore to wait for a tow truck to tow it back, after checking it didn't run. It's not perfect, a previous owner has gone mad with black spray cans on some bits, the sunroof needs a rebuild and it needs an engine, but it is straight in the rear quarter panels and it is black. So the white car will be giving up it's life to make this one live, but don't worry, there won't be much of my white car actually ending up at the crusher.

Curiosity got the best of me and despite the fact I am pulling the motor out, I decided to see if it had compression via a leak down test (nope) and to check the plugs. Which were quite worn. This car had not been looked after too well for a few years mechanically (although the transmission had been serviced recently and the oil isn't burnt...). Further disassembly found the radiator top tank hose connection was damaged, the distributor cap and rotor were very worn and that there were many and numerous oil leaks, as well as coolant leaks, such as from the one in the engine valley to the water pump leaving a stain of coolant in the valley, the hose from the header tank to the radiator had been taped up to be repaired and there is signs of failed engine mounts too.

Anyway, the aftermath of not checking coolant enough is here.

I think the engine is recoverable, I have spare heads that could be bolted on and the bores haven't moved so it could be fixed up too...

Interested in converting it to a B280E? I know a guy in Gold Coast that has (had?) B280E cylinder head & camshaft when he converted his UK import '88 760 Estate to B230FT, if you're I keen I'll give him a call to see if he still got them.

Reviving this, as it's relevant to my interests.

Did you ever get the new car running?

And, what you said about Laguna 3L engines? Later 90° iron block V6's, cambelt driven, which replaced PRV in Renaults? Are they any good and do they share bellhousing pattern with PRV?

Decided to keep the 760 as the white car. But not been a priority to sort out the timing issue I have that limits the revs (ecu thinks it's knocking around 4000rpm), has 20* of timing instead of 10 because of the decking of the heads. Otherwise, started on an S90 front swap a year and a half ago, but Jobs prioritised over this car. Plus my 122.
