So basically I upgraded the Hella MicroDE to HID. (not mine originally, just sharing what I did)

I just wanted to share a parts list to make it easier for anyone interested.

I did this to my 940.

Parts I used:
Harness:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C5WS50I (connects to the stock foglamp harness. At least on mine)

Ballasts:(I went with ACME speedystart)
https://www.theretrofitsource.com/amp-acme-speedystart-35w.html

HID H3 bulbs: (I went with 3000k)

HID extension cables (just in case):

Mounting of ballasts and whatnot are up to your skill and imagination. The hardest part is taking the HID bulb connectors apart. If you need spares, they are available.

You mean the lights below the bumper? The original micro DE bulb is an H3 in that tiny housing? I use the Catz msx on my turbo and they have issues if you have to sit at a long traffic light. They start overheating. The instructions actually tell you to turn them off if you have to stop fo a long time. I was looking around for another small format light. Maybe I can consider a bulb conversion. Thanks!

HID are only 35w (if you get the standard ballasts) So these don't get terribly warm.

However if you look closely to the fogs under the bumber, you'll see that I attached a series of small heat sinks with thermal epoxy.

The lights behind the grill look great.

How did you mount them?

I plan on mounting a set of Hella 500's, maybe the Black Magics, behind the grill like that on my 245.

Please tell me that your license plate isn't short for what I think it's short for.
