Default 11 second quarter mile

Hey! I'm new to the forum. I have a 1989 Volvo 780 Turbo which I would like to turn into a 11 second car in a quarter of a mile. I'm looking for suggestions on how to that, all suggestions is appreciated.

It should be about 11.5-11.95 seconds bone stock.

Just kidding obviously.

You’re going to catch a lot of heat for posting such a broad/ignorant statement.

Inb4

Why 11 seconds?
What’s your budget?
How long do you want it to last?
What kind of skills do you have?

Guessing loaded weight of 3100 lbs, gonna need at least 400, better to have 450 HP or more at the crank

guaranteed high 10, 11 seconds. Probably a little bit more reliable given the fact not a lot of people know how to build a solid engine to hold 11 seconds on a redblock. I enjoy watching well built redblocks go 11s and below though.

Easiest.

Get Holset. Make J-pipe. Get 450 injectors. Get TLAO chips. Get T5 transmission.

Blow car up.

Put in LSx. Blow up transmission.

Get T56. Blow up rear end.

Get Ford/Toyota/something rear end.

Get bored. Push car into lake.

Tell everyone it should run 11's.

Sorry they can't go that fast. The aerodynamics slow them down too much. A prius on the other hand...

Sell it, buy P85D, duct tape egg-crate grille to front of car, enjoy mid-high 11's "stock".

Sell P85D & Profit again.

But no seriously, what's your budget? Capability, what have you done so far and what does it trap now, etc.

They're chunky little things - Google says stock curb weight is 3450-ish lbs. All that Italian style added mass.

Also, do you mean 11.0 (11 seconds) or 11.9 (in the 11's)?

Big difference.

yes, .9 ;)

easiest way to run 11's is to build a 9 second car and turn it down a little.

Each 0.1 second costs more than the last!

EDIT: Forgot the driver swap mod - that's free!

$50,000+ and a lot of skill and you'll be in the 11s.

if you're motivated and a little careful I suspect you could do it for 3k or even less depending on how hands-on you want to get. the limiting factor on the 780 is going to be the irs.

Is that the LS + Turbo + 4L80E + Ford 8.8 + ECU Tuning ? Add in an extra set of wheels and slicks...

I could see 5k if you were resourceful = Get Sloopy
