17x9" on 244

Not our fault you don't know how use a tape measure and calculator. All the info is there in your driveway.

I test fit a 16x9.5 ET38 with 225/50/16 tire on my daily driver '92 244 that isn't very low in the rear. The wheel adapter was 35mm, I believe. So 3mm offset overall. There is a little bit of room to move the wheel in further, but not much.

The fender lips were already rolled a little to fit the 15x7 ET12 205/60/15 I had been running. There's not a lot of room there, so if the car is lowered or loaded much at all, it tends to rub just above the mudflap where the quarter panel narrows.

From the rear of the car this shows the clearance of the wheel to the lip on the trailing arm. Probably about 5mm. On my '87, I ground down the lip on the control arm because I had a tire rub there.

Here's where I had a tire rub on my 'race' car, and then clearanced the trailing arm.

The rubbing marks on the chassis are quite clear here. I've hammered most of these areas in, especially forward of the shock where the inner panel sticks out.

If you're willing to cut up your car, anything is possible. I split the outer panel from the inner and pulled it ~1.5" as measured above the mudflap. 275/45/16 (25.6" height) fit at ET3.

See that is helpful! Looks damn fun.. always wanted to get on the track.. But almost impossible in denmark..

Thanks a lot. ill start with finding the correct offset, then ill start looking into chassis afterwards if necessary

I run a 17x9 +0 in the rear with a 235/40R17. Inner clearance is fine, quarter panel is trimmed a bit. No rubbing issues at all. I'll dig up a picture later.

Haha.. you sure?

We germans come to Denmark to race... Padborg and so on.. so dont bitch around with you're "rare" racetracks ;) You can use them.. we can'T.. except for you're billionaire..

Yeah well it is possible, but damn ****ing expensive in my opinion.. Cost around 400 euros..

Just wanted to let you know that i am now running the 17x9 wheels, no rubbing at all and no modifications made, so i guess you were not talking truth all of you ;)
I am running 225/45-17 wheels both ends, 20mm spacer front and 25mm on back. Front could need 18mm instead, they poke out a little too much, but i do not know if there are room between the suspension though.. That'll show.

** 4 inch exhaust are on it as well now.

Spacer thickness means nothing without stating what your wheel offset is.

and yes putting a skinny tire on a big wheel allows you to fit a wider wheel but it negates the advantage of the wider wheel so its not really accomplishing much.

Mount a 255 / 40 / 17 and get back to us

Why are you telling me stuff i already know? Jesus...

I do not want to cut up such a fine vehicle, thats stupid. I think a 245 might fit on rear though

Regarding spacer thickness, you COULD read the rest of the thread and be enlightened...

Well you called us liars for telling you 17*9 isn't going to work well without any cutting. Try running a 245 or 255 and report back.

That was never the question mate. I asked whether or not a 235 would fit, Almost everybody said no, it would require cutting which it did not. So stop being a jerk. Why does turbobricks have to be such dickheads at times... I do not care whether or not a 245 will fit, because i know with common sense it wont, and neither will i cut up my car.

The only jerk I have read in this thread is the OP. You asked for info. You got info. Tried it yourself. Worked better than 95% of previous attempts. Called everyone a liar. If you have common sense, then use it. Why ask everyone for information? Oh, and if the car is that damn nice, why modify it at all? Geez. You just pissed all over a whole lot of knowledge in this thread. No one asked you to log in.

Dickhead

So you're just going to roll the whole thing? Please don't tell me you're going to use this...

...because it won't work.

I'm running 235's on the 18's on a 245. That took a little work. Be prepared to do some yourself.

i would like to see some pics of the 17x9 wheels mounted on the car. i'm currently making/modifying 17x9 steelies and will be running 225/45-17 aswell

It really depends on ride height, tire size, wheel size and offset. Not just one thing but all 4 combined. Camber can also come into play if you are really pushing the limits of stock fenders.

With the right offset and fender lip trimming/rolling you can run 245's. Not sure why so many people struggle with this. :e-shrug:

245/40-18's:
