I'm still amazed I did this on 7psi when the last engine took 15psi to break.. But yeah, injectors and a wideband are definitely in my letter to Santa.

Sorry Sam but I hate to say this: just when I think my life sucks and my car always breaks, I come to your thread and feel much better.

But you will prevail!

Glad to be of service, lol.

When the car is broken I feel like I should sell it, but I won't get any money for a broken car. Then when it isn't broken I won't sell it because I love driving it too much. Endless cycle.

Drove it about an hour on the highway. Managed to leak engine oil, powersteering atf, and coolant. And it made this weird noise in boost. But the clutch slip seems to have gone away somehow. So that's good.

Zapped a flex pipe to the exhaust, putting in a new water pump, and ordered a rebuild kit for my spare T3 which (I think) leaks oil into the exhaust housing. Still need to take a look at the steering rack. I should also try and set the ignition timing, or something.

Uh...that funny noise was massive detonation

That vid was when the headgasket blew. How can it detonate if it's got water injection?

Oh, for sure. I'm trying to make it explode less this time.

The piston was steam cleaned when the headgasket blew. Injector is my guess. Was running NGK BPR7ES, I believe.

I never heard it make that noise after doing the HG, but I'm pretty deaf.

Third time's the charm, right?

I got lazy and didn't clean the head. Turbo pistons in the '93 block the car originally came with and a T cam. New rod bearings and seals all around.

With the luck you've had with this car, I'm betting that motor is out again before December 31.

Ehhh, 50/50.

Engine probably goes in today and everything I'll need for the 15g arrives later this week.

How bad was that cylinder? Judging by that piston, It couldn’t be in very good shape.

I did indeed, thanks. They look great.

Engine is mostly in, just need to bolt in one of the engine mounts and the bell housing. In the passenger mount I used a Land Rover Defender mount with some washers. Looks a lot beefier vs the standard one and was like $5 on Rockauto.

Head and block are trash. Wasn't a very good engine before I broke it anyway.
