There are a bunch of my parts in that car. But...Houston didn't take that picture. He was driving the damn car! It actually sits at a shop a block from where I work. The mechanic occasionally asks me for advice on it...:nod:

I'll agree though, not the greatest shot I've seen.
 
My car made it on the website...the grand prize pic isnt a good pic at all IMO, it dosen't even show a running car and has nothing to do with IPD...the second place one the car is too damn small.

Grand Prize: That is borderline blasphemous. Its like taking a picture of a pile of corpses for a portrait competition. Its a nice picture and well composed, but downright insulting as a grand prize winner in a Volvo picture contest.

FWD: Again, nice picture, but where is the car??? Oh, there it is! I think... Its a Volvo picture contest. Feature the damn car!

RWD: Nothing terribly great about the picture itself, just the action. I saw a few others that were better for the photo itself, especially that water shot of dmelvi's 245.

Vintage: Throw a guy wearing a bomber jacket in there and that is a shoe-in for the cover of the next L.L. Bean catalog...

:rofl: at the 900s in the FWD category... And :grr: at the lack of my car in the rwd category, I wasn't expecting to win, but I thought the forest was pretty artsy. Makes me wonder if it was submitted after all... But damn, does your wagon look great Danny! Isn't that other one with the ecodes your car too though? Why's it say carson, and why does it have ecodes on it... :-P (I like it better with the quad recs, which does it have now?)

Nah.. they just take the liberty since we've sent in pics.. it's like, we agree that they use the pictures for other purposes too. which is cool by me.

edit: now, at least two norwegian 240s are representet at IPD :p

The picture of the Rally 240 shows it having a giant scoop on it's roof...

Someone please explain the function of this! Is it just for looks? Does the general public think it's "cool looking"?

Ram air conditioning? :lol:

I...errrr....won 1st place in the ipd photo contest back in 1990 with a shot of my brother's 122 corpse. :oops:

Note the co-winner.

Too bad they reproduced it in B&W. It was beautifully hand colored, IMHO :-D I hope it's on someone's wall at ipd but I'll bet it's stuffed in a file cabinet somewhere...wish I could get it back.

i like it, not too huge and it appears to function properly. my car's without a/c and i'm trying to think of some other ways to get some fresh air in besides the 242's huge windows (when it's raining really hard and whatnot), that seems to be a tasteful addition. the fact that it's a racecar *pretty much* releases it from all form vs. function rules in my opinion

:oops: Blame it on our Marketing Director/Graphic Designer -- he's strictly a 122/140 driver and gets some of the 900/800 series cars mixed up a little sometimes. He's the guy who made the slide show. I'll see if I can have him correct it.
