My steering rack is leaking badly so I am going to replace it. Before doing so, I want to make sure I have all parts on hand.

My original rack is ZF with the mount on the passenger side. The replacement rack, which I obtained from a junkyard, is a Cam rack, part number 1359900, which mounts on the driver side.

Here are a couple pictures of my replacement rack, showing the mounting point.

I have read through a number of threads on steering rack replacement and also reviewed the instructions that come with the Maval replacement rack, which shows different hardware for each of the six variations. (The Maval was out of stock when I went to buy my replacement, and it also seems to have a bad reputation.)

I went back to the junkyard to try and get the mounting block, but unfortunately, the entire front cross member was gone off the car. (The junkyard pulled the rack for me when I bought it.)

What are the mounting parts I need to mount this rack on the driver side? Can the mount for the ZF rack be moved over to the driver side?

If any members have these parts available, please message me.

I would check with 2manyturbos and hiperfauto to see if they have the part available. You can also put a post in the wanted section. The driver side on a lhd CAM steering rack just uses long bolts that screw in from under the crossmember. The passenger side uses the mounting spacer block and a Ubolt clamp to mount the rack.

So it actually has to be connected on both sides? I had asked my man at the junkyard to pull the mounting hardware, but all he came up with was the U-bolt, so I was under the impression it was only attached on one side. Here's a picture showing both sides of the rack.

The CAM rack uses 2 U bolts and a mounting block. You have one of the 2 U bolts in that picture. If you buy that mounting kit you will have the rest of what you need. You are missing all of the pieces that mount the passenger side.
