Slug works, some old 240

Figured I'd start a project page.

For now I'll start small and document very small changes to parts of the car and side project-parts being assembled-installed.

I'll try to see how the ball gets rolling, I'd like to document little parts and oversite of restoration, functionality and then transition to performance eventually.

I'm holding off taking pictures of the car as a whole until I think I've reached a good point. just looking over small odds and ends- repairs first.

First order of business is to fix this bad buttcheek cover:

Car needs a hoodlight installed from the later 240's, I think I already have dual trunk lights and will be swapping in a later 240 snorkel as well as removing the hot air piping. Battery tray is mint, just need to buy a new battery for it.

Valve cover has green rtv, and there is some kind of leak under the intake manifold, will need to sort that out too. I'm sure there will be plenty of little repairs that I'll need just to get it tidier.

10-3-18 went to install a new interior door handle on the drivers side notice the door panel was a bit misshaped proceeded to pull both door panels off found they had some kind of fiberglass repair not a bad solution but some kind of rigid core would have likely helped keep shape (I'll included better pictures of those later). I think the driver side door was replaced with some kind of junkyard door from a car possibly in some kind of fire??.. the melted vibration-sound deadening leads me to believe that. (I've been looking into finding a replacement for it as the fitment doesn't seem quite right and I'm not sure why)

while the passenger door card is still a bit damp I figured I'll try to flatten the bottom of the door card out a bit some pieces of wood looked alright before. I need to fashion some moisture barriers... and possibly add better drainage holes to the doors (anyone change that on their cars?)

I saw Stiggy had worked on his with fiberglass, not sure how good I'll do with something like that I wish I could stamp out new door cards. Metal ones are available in Sweden but they seem to stand out a bit too much for this kind of car.

10-6-18washed the car twice over and locked the keys in the trunk... That was fun

10-7-18 began cleaning the underbody and giving the car a solid visual inspection

I'll keep that in mind this piece of wood is going to work pretty well and there doesn't have to be anything too aesthetically pleasing, because it's hidden under a carpet.

Do they sell any other unique items?

Volvo world makes a reproduction trunk shelf out of fiberglass for $39.00. I tried soaking mine and flattening it with heavy weight, but it had a "memory" and warped again, though not as badly. The fiberglass piece if very heavy duty and well worth the cost in my opinion.

10-6-18 cleaned the car paint needed to stay clear, whatever is in the air pollen and whatnot was really going to ruin the car outside. Cleaned twice over and got a good idea of imperfections, car is clear if underbody rust but could use a respray imo.

- seals for Windows and trunk can only do so well, trunk is not draining properly gasket probably needs a refresh or swap. (Any suggestions there?) I swore the later 240's 90 had some kind of drainage hole along the trunk gutter.. am I wrong?

10-7-18 Worked on clearing up some of the oil deposits, I know the valve cover leaks, and unfortunately trans too, maybe also rear main seal.

The trans might have bee fixed or moded the pan cleaned up pretty well and seems to have a different style fitting for the dip stick tube than I'm used to not sure if that's the source of the leak.

Sprayed a degreaser with cardboard underneath.. idk of a way to keep it clean and contained any suggestions? I don't have a power washer or steam cleaner but power washer would be messy.

Shifter linkage to trans is missing the bushing.

Cross member is bent up in the front and steering rack is tight when turning in one direction there is a small kink in one of the lines... Might be giving me trouble... Not sure what the cause is car has new tie rods, sway bar endlinks, brake lines, balljoints.

Looked much better after partial cleaning still needs work. Didn't get to snap pictures.

A few quick updates getrag transmission is a grouped with linkage, driveshaft in and it works. Shifts and spins wheels (I'll need to check for adjustments and tighten the hydraulic lines.... But also consider getting a new line made I don't like the fitment whatsoever)

Wired up OEM BMW pigtails to the reverse switch just need to snip apart the neutral safety switch so it can plug right in. Odd thing is I'm having trouble with quick connects for some reason loosing connectivity

Considering on taking out the wire loop I put in for the neutral safety switch and doing wiring to the clutch petal switch instead... (However for some reason the pedal doesn't go directly in center of the switch it is offset to the side) I picked up a hydro clutch pedal from overseas and maybe the fitment is off.

Needed to adjust the brake light-pedal switch closer in by a hair and very well might need to make adjustments to the master cylinder... For some reason the pedal is super stiff and brakes seem to be dragging a little bit. (I think there is an adjuster on the end of the rod in the booster that I have to mess with) so I'll take the master off and maybe try to take a depth measurement. Swapped in a slim brake booster not sure if that can create some kind of issues.

I have some questions and odd and ends to post .... And also need suggestions on web hosting if anyone knows of something good these days for pictures.
