Homer's 1990 240 redblock exorcism

Dropped the M47 and head off with their new owner. Asked him if he had a 740 M47 front driveshaft laying around.
Score. Freebie.
Top-240 M47
Bottom- 740 M47. I'll get this one cut to the right length and the universal put on.

didn't know the 740 m47 driveshaft was longer. Can you measure the difference between in length between the 740 m47 shaft, and the 240 one? the 740 one might work for a getrag conversion.

a 740 driveshaft is exactly 80 mm longer than a 240 driveshaft, when equipped with the same transmission.
 
Man, I didn't realise that there was 9 pages of no real action on the car! About time the engine comes out! The rest will happen quickly no doubt.
 
Chinagate (44mm, 10psi spring) showed up, along with rebuild parts.
Nothing sketchy with the gate, we'll see how long (diaphragm) it lasts.

It'll sit a tad higher than that.
Didn't really get much done, just got a bunch of measurements to go at it with the header in solidworks.
 
Sorta a useless post, but I'm going the route of bottom mount turbo. After much engine bay staring, it should be easier.
 
I wouldn't trust that the spring inside the china crap is 10 psi. All the springs I've gotten were 20 + psi springs.

Mine came with multiple springs and they all worked out to what they were claimed to be. :e-shrug:

Bottom mount FTW.
