rattling noise

My neighbor has a '02 V70 2.4 Turbo that is making a rattling noise at idle coming from the area around the air pump, alternator or AC compressor. Sounds to me like a bearing going out. Anyone else dealt with this issue? Found a solution?

Can you be anymore specific? What have you done so far to try and diagnose it?

Only listened to it idle and put my hand on all three of the belt driven components. I don't have a stethoscope to listen with at the moment. The noise came and went as the idle hunted a bit.
