Default Max possible power?

Hi all!

I would like to know what's the max possible power with a gutted air box (from a 940)?

I'm thinking to buy a cone filter, but I'm not sure it increase something if compared to the "stock" air box...

Thanks for your input!

Regards, Alex.

The stock airbox is huge. In my car I drilled a 3 in. hole in front of it, below the filter and routed a hose to the bumper.

I would guess if it has a 3" opening for fresh air and a 3" pipe connection, it's good for maybe 500-600whp...

Are you joking or are you serious? 'cause if it's ok for 500+ HP, I'm sure to not buy any cone filter...

agree

500+ should not be any problem

Cone filters are grossly overhyped and the MAF does not like the filter oil either.

Police also tend to take a grievance to pod/cone filters.

Yeah, cone filters are 95% hype and most don't filter worth a damn vs. your stock filter. If you aren't making huge power, it's not a concern.

Many here are making 500 and more horses with this very mod.... As already mentioned... Air mass meters don't like the oil used on big brand cone filters so best to stay away from them....

We tend to not 'toot our horns' so to speak about just how much power we're making.... More fun to leave young, dumb and full of *oh snap.. this is a family channel..... ahhhh.... Wondering just what happened..... "That was a Volvo..... I just got owned by a Volvo..... and an old one at that...."

I'm really surprised how well designed is the stock air box...

From my understanding from an artical on this forum, the only restriction (if you can call it that) is the bend out of the box just before the maf.

Only use cone filter if there is no way to use your stock air box setup.

Ok, Î'll let the stock air box under the hood, and I'll stay away for the cone filter...
