I offer one for a BMW M20 engine, but not a 5 cylinder Volvo yet.

I'm curious if just a scraper and dual filter setup would suffice.
it seems as if you are making the pan larger and able to fit more oil as it stands or am I mistaken? By having more oil in the pan even without hre baffle and gate system would help correct ? Its obviously setup in a more ideal manner to help retain oil by the oil pickup, I was just curious if those small upgrades would create fairly significant results. Or if the baffles/gates are the only way to go.

I don't believe that baffling and gating is the only way to go. There is another company that makes a scraper/windage setup that probably would suffice in most applications. This is for those who are tracking, auto-xing or pushing their car hard on the street. White blocks are known for oil starvation issues.

CJ, that looks like a very nice M20 scraper. We got burned when we made the mistake of buying Ireland's POS windage tray, which doesn't even fit the pan holes.

i apologize for the STUPID question, but what are the benefits of a crank scraper or windage tray or whatever these thingers are? i understand the trap doors in the pan, but everything else, i have no idea wtf is going on

supposed to scrape liquid oil off the crank and rotating assembly, for less mass/resistance. reduces the impact of the "oil cloud" present inside the block on the rotating bits. also keeps oil in the pan for reliability etc

Finally got all the parts to finish the project. The windage screen was the most challenging. Cutting .065 stainless wire mesh is tough. With the screen fitted and hemmed, now I just have to mount it to the stanchions in the pan and this pan is finished. ![]() Made some minor changes and now have a production version. Once I get the hardware, install the PEMs, and hinges the kit will be complete. ![]() PEMs will be located inside the box so no nuts will be required. Each of the baffles will be bolted in for ease of installation. ![]() Last edited by 300+_T5R_855; 07-19-2012 at 01:18 AM.. |

Why didn't you stop? I was there until 8:30
The E30 is SharpHID Johns car and his friends auto-x car. I have been doing more on the E30's lately for TFB up at Infineon. |
