turns out to be almost an exact match for the one i cut off an 850t... don't know if that helps anyone or not...

looks bigger in the pic, but its actually the same size pipe, but the flare comes out a little farther

bolt holes lineup! if not perfect, its very close.
I ordered this for my '91 gmc2500 to repair the y-pipe that rusted out at the manifold.

my other discovery is this intercooler from the 2009 VW GLI I am parting, looks like it could fit with a little work, but hard to tell if it would be much improvement. Most VW guys upgrade to the S3 IC. Was going to compare it to mine, but ended up selling it before i got to. Have measurements though
 
I think he's just taking about the part here cut off the 850 dp, should be the same for 740/940dp? I welded 2.5"x3" V band adapter onto turbo then 3" V bands for the rest of it.
 
I guess you would if you ran a conical flange turbo and needed to build a downpipe it could be useful to you. I run a conical flange turbo bc it was available at the local junkyard for $35
