I'm getting an '87 740 turbo sedan (b230ft) with 12b turbo, and i'll be making some modifications to it, such as putting in a cd player, better camshaft, exhaust, e fan etc. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or could point me to some how-to articles cause I really dont know much about this car as of right now. This probably varies from state to state, but I also heard you don't need a muffler on it as long as it has cat and can pass emissions.

thanks :D

740 info

There are a lot of good articles like this on http://www.turbobricks.com Sign up to the site and check out
the vault and articles in the forums. It has a lot of good performance and cosmetic suggestions and info on how to. Check out some of the posts in our Volvo forums since we have a few members that have modified cars.

The best service info would be to buy Volvos green manuals
for your car. There are always some for sale on ebay as well
as from Volvo themselves. http://www.volvotechinfo.com is their service info site. There is also a Haynes manual for 740 series
and I think there is a Chilton manual that may be helpful. Volvos own stuff is the best but can be a bit pricey depending a lot on
where you buy the manuals.

page and there is an English forum.
Enjoy the road,

In CA you don't need mufflers, this is true, as long as you can pass emissions. So leave your muffler on, pass emmission, then put some straight pipes on. You don't even need cats. Should sound pretty good on your car, especially with a turbo.

It only had the downpipe when I got it. So now i'm getting 3 inch piping, cat and a cherry bomb
