I'd say trying to put them on the sides of the rear bumper would help continuity. They really do look badass, but I imagine they make it hard to jack it up.

Not at all. They aren't any lower than the rockers themselves. I'm definitely trying to come up with something for the rear as well, just haven't figured anything out yet.

Dope car dude. I was the one who asked for the link to your thread on FB. Will surely look for future updates. Going to steal your home depot paint and side skirts ideas for sure.

Update time. A few changes have occurred, some larger than others, and some big things planned.

Had this pic taken shortly after my last update:

Then I got bored with the OD green. So I felt like trying something new.

Same method as before, Behr exterior paint form Home Depot, rolled on with the same foam rollers. I considered a dark matte blue, a desert tan, and a darker green, but I decided on the red and I'm happy I did. I like how it matches with the interior.

I also (mildly) sanded, pressure washed, and repainted the wheels. Redid the same gold in the centers, a better silver for the lips and then clear coated the whole surface.

I'm super happy with how it came out. The next thing I did just this past weekend was head up to Jacksonville to pick up my next project.

93 B230FT with only ~120k on it. Ran fine when removed from the 940 it was in. Came with an OBX header, never used, with the flange cut and flipped the correct way. The Holset looks just wonderful sitting up top. Also came with an oil filter relocation kit which I'm sure might come in handy at some point.

I need to figure out what exactly I'm planning for this, but I'm thinking just a mild build. New seals upper and lower end, possibly new rings, and then just supporting mods. New downpipe is a must, new oil lines, new injectors. I can use some of my existing parts; RSI cam, cam gear, intake manifold, accessories, etc. A lot to think about and a lot to plan and budget for, but I'm excited for it.

As always, been a hot minute since I've updated.

Tore the engine down, took a peek at the pistons and the cylinders. Cross hatching is still there, there's a very minor ridge on the top of the cylinders but it's minimal. I don't plan to bore this out at all - most likely just hone them and call it a day. Just trying to decide if I prefer to do it myself or take it to a shop. The latter may be more preferable because I could have it hot tanked as well.

Bought my first round of replacement parts too. Pretty much everything for the bottom end here sans oil pump. I plan to get a new one of those, hone the cylinders and assemble it. I'll tackle the head next. Rebuild kit for the Holset is sitting on the shelf too. I plan to tear it down and rebuild it but I can't get the damn center cartridge out of the hotside, regardless of how long it soaks in PB blaster. Probably going to try heat next.

That's about it for the work I've done on it so far. Had a couple Volvo get togethers recently, as well as EuroJam 2016 at Orlando SpeedWorld.

Other than that, I found myself a girlfriend who enjoys junkyard trips just as much as I do, and her dog enjoys rides in the wagon as well.

Got some new seats recently. They're an off-brand of some sort, but they're comfy. Made some brackets out of 1/4" steel and they bolted in quite easily. I sacrificed sliders (I think I've actually adjusted the seats maybe once in the several years I've had this car) and I'm digging how low they sit.

Lots of drive time on these old guys, complete with the seat covers I got for my Jetta 10 years ago. Put them out in the yard and someone took them the following morning.

Well everyone, I have some news. The wagon has officially been relinquished of Daily Driver duties and is now unregistered and off the road. At over 300k miles with the majority of its recent life seeing higher boost and being driven hard, I could feel its performance lacking every day I drove it to work. Not to mention sweating my ass off in the Florida heat with no AC.

It will be parked and covered while I finish building the spare engine, and will then see a proper engine swap completed instead of rushed over a weekend in order for me to make it to work the following Monday.

In the meantime, say hello to the new daily:
