Guess these would be more of a flashback set, considering it's Friday now.
Original 245 at Whistler, BC in early September 1990. Elephant ear belonged to a 1979 244GL M46 car that I may've seen in a Vancouver, BC wrecking yard about 7 years later.
Same wagon with our second 245, a Cdn spec 1985 245DL, peering in from the right...
The 1985 245DL with my first car, a 1981 242DL that I bought for $200, then proceeded to dump another $5800 into over three years in upgrades and repairs. Really should've just spent the $800 and had Jason Hiester in Delaware drive his '81 242T out instead. But, I digress. Both of these cars were M46 cars from the factory. Both also had brown cloth interiors, as originally equipped.
My '81 242, after having all that $ thrown at it... Engine swapped with a B23E, tan leather interior installed, pretty much loaded. Second car to wear the zender spoiler shown here. First was a 1982 264GLE in Canada.
Back when we had three grayish colored 245s... Of the three, two are apparently still around. The spider-eyed wagon, unfortunately developed some mechanical issues in 2014 and was parted out, just like its replacement, three years later. The silver flathooded wagon was last seen a couple months ago in the Tacoma area, and the gray wagon seems to keep getting passed around like the proverbial cheerleader in a high school football locker room.
My old '83 245Ti with the above gray '84 245GL before it was commando bumpered.
Above 245Ti, circa early 2002, with my original '82 242Ti.
November 30th, 2002... Same 242Ti.
What replaced the silver 242... 1 owner '82 242T "low-line" edition. No AC, manual windows, mirrors, and door locks. Did have velour interior that I swapped out with the tan leather from the silver car. Got the car for $1300 in December 2002. Drove it until September 2006. Was even more of an accident magnet than the silver car was, but never showed as much damage. What did it in was being rearended twice, once by a Dodge Caravan that got ass-whipped by another Dodge Caravan, doing 35 mph, then being rearended by a 1998 Accord. Second time, didn't show damage at first, but, three days later, a crease appeared just ahead of the passenger side rear wheel arch. Last photo shows the crease as a vertical line and also shows the car without a spoiler, since I'd sold it to neptune by then.
Throwback to the only Seattle area TB minimeet held. Location was the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center parking garage. 10/23/11. From L-R: me, neptune, superchargerman, and finally, poik.
