Gave up on my thread here and have been keeping a thread on StanceWorks. Bash me if you'd like, it's entertaining. I'm 19, got my 1992 240 LH3.1 M47 shortly after my 17th birthday, and it's taught me everything I know. Oh, and everything I've ever done to this car has been done in the street in front of my house, no garage, no lift, no air tools...Anyways, on to the goodies.

Here's what I started with.

Shortly after I slapped some wheels on off of an SL500 and cut the springs basically in half and it stayed like that for a while.

I don't have any pictures, but I +T'd it with a 90+, 15g, 3" downpipe, orangetops, TLAO chips, etc etc and one day decided I wanted to up the boost, MBC failed and 15g moonboosted, resulting in a blown turbo and severely roasted clutch. Bit the bullet and set out for a T5 swap. Ended up getting scammed for a $500 trans (not WC and was full of teeth...you live and you learn...) got a super nice WC T5 5 minutes from my house, a JVAB steel flywheel, saab 9000 pp, and clutchnet six puck and a yoshifab crossmember.

Went off to college, went to come home, smoke coming from turbo, ended up being ****ty summit an fitting to turbo leaking. First time on a trailer.

Fixed the oil feed elbow and drove it over winter break to work and stuff. Was coming home one night and felt stumbling...car shut off, pouring smoke...get it home and pull head, headgasket was fine but timing was way off...go to pull the engine and realize the drain plug is missing...note to world, keep your oil pressure dummy light...Got a 940 parts car off the local drunk/crackhead for $350. After scrap I paid $25 for a spotless squirter engine and G80.

Had the head decked and cleaned and resealed the entire engine and put a Gates timing belt on. Also tapped the block for oil return but I didn't get a picture of it.

Put the engine/trans back in during a week of whopping 20 degree high temperatures. Drove it a little but left it home while I finished off my second semester at school.

Picked up a Holset HY35 for a whopping $120 shipped. Decided to attempt a header build instead of running an eBay header. Got a stainless flange from RSI, and stainless collecter and t3 flange off eBay. Also ordered 1 1/2" stainless elbows and pipe off Ace Stainless.

A little time and looking at Kyle's RWD Experience thread, my brother and I came up with this.

Was supposed to get it tigged by a friend, but he ended up migging it...I painted it and threw it on and didn't take any pictures. This picture is from when I test fit everything and made the downpipe. I'll get some more pictures of everything. Ignore the injector wiring.

While I was waiting for the header to be welded, I was going to install the G80...I modded it and had it ready to go in with 4.10 gears, but I decided to welded the **** out of the stock diff and leave the 3.31s in. Cry about it.

So as of right now it's running on the Holset with an emusa wastegate, 025 maf, 440cc injectors, and tlao chips. But I have to do some fender work so I can drive it...In the midst of blown engine/new engine/holset stuff I finally got all my wheels on...the wheels are 16x10 all around. I was originally gonna run 205/45s but now they're just in the front and I bought 225/45s off my brother for the rear. And I made a double lip. And washed/polished/waxed it for the first time in forever. Clean black paint is so nice. Here's a bunch of pictures.

If any of you saw my last thread you probably know how far I've come...I'm extremely happy with the car and everything I've learned, and I'm no where near done yet...intercooler upgrade is next, coilovers, roll correctors, sway bars, etc etc...Let me know what you think. I might have a video or two up soon...possibly containing a burnout...

Not crazy about the stretch (BTDT) just not my cuppa.

but like Mr. Schaff said, saw your car at H2oi and loved it then, looks like its come a long way. with different wheels/fitment, it could be my idea of "perfect". but hell, have fun with it, its probably a lot quicker than it should be

Drove the car last night! Wastegate is set to 8-10 psi and it pulls pretty good. 025 and TLAO chips and 42lb injectors, AFRs look good so far. Need a 31x12x3 intercooler and I should cut the spool time in half. Have a couple things to button up but so far everything seems good. And I tested out the welded diff at the end of my street but the damn video cut out...I have a crappy pull video on my phone but I'm buying a dslr so I'll probably take some nice pictures and video this weekend.

Lucky your brother owns a tig welder! Not bad for a student! I can't justify the expensive of a steel flywheel etc myself, still worth more than the car :p

The manifold looks good as do the 225 rear tyres, needs the same on the front to not look like a teenagers car. Hope this engine stays together for you as well, and your rear, the 4.10 is really worth fitting from an acceleration point of view, only you would be crying about not fitting it sooner once you do I reckon... That and your tyre wear if you really are on a student budget....

When I drove the car the 3.31s weren't bad, all it really needs is an intercooler to help spool. I'm hoping to get the 225s all around soon because now I know I can fit them in the front. And the header only took about 3 nights after work to route/tack together.

Yeah 225s are good on those wheels. I thought it'd be too much stretch but I like it. Do those BFGs run pretty true to size or are they wide? I've got two in 215/40/17 and I'm thinking of ditching these Federals in favor of a set for the rear.

4.10s would potentially make the turbo spool slower as you are not putting as much load on the motor. Furthermore, an intercooler upgrade will not cut the spool time "in half." It could potentially help, but it will not be a drastic change like I think you are hoping for. An hy35/he341/he351 should see full boost around 3500rpm (certain variables will change this slightly).

I daily a v70r now so I'm used to instant spool haha. I didn't look to see what rpm it was spooling around but it's definitely before 4k. Pulls strong to 6500. I'm gonna put in a 15 psi spring and see how it is after that but intercooler is next on my list. Still need to figure out what to do about coolant reservoir placement too.

Like usual something bull**** has to go wrong...went to change wastegate spring and noticed hy35 compressor wheel is contacting compressor housing. Rebuilt the turbo before I put it on so i have no idea what happened. There's no shaft play in or out or side to side. Only contacts when turbo is fully together. Don't know what to do now.

is the compressor housing on straight and the clip fully seated. I had problems on mine when it wasn't seated properly. did u paint the inside?
