Private Message visibility

Hello - Is it possible to be able to see if I have any new private messages right on the index page of this message board system? Anywhere that it's visible without having to hit that pulldown menu would be nice, if it's not. It seems that I should know if I have new messages just by loading the boards, not by taking any additional action. At least, that's how it is on the other 2 message boards I frequent.

you can tell it to pop-up a notification when you have new pm's. I will eventually make that bottom box on the index page more of a control panel with short cuts to things ... like your private messages

Yeah, I have that option selected, but it doesn't appear to work.

must have javascript turned off...

In the drop down menu at the top of the site, it will state whether you have new private messages or not... For instance, now it says "You have no new messages." Works for me?

Would be kinda cool if we could get a tbricks AIM skin or something to pretend like we have an actual stand-alone messaging client though ;)
