Default Custom Volvo Cabinets

I designed a cabinet for 245s to mount two elemental designs 10 inch SW10s. These subs are great and only 3 inches deep. They are inexpensive too (70 bucks shipped). They are probably the best shallow mounts on the market. I am working with ED to make a package deal available for low money. As you can see, it replaces the rear cargo floor. Here is a pretty picture:

I am trying to gauge interest.

pricing is in for the first option---

New prices are in:

Description Dual SQ10 Volvo Enclosure
Customer Cory Stansbury

Qty 1-5 W/Out Carpet 175
Qty 1-5 W/ Carpet 190

Qty 5-10 W/Out Carpet 165
Qty 5-10 W/ Carpet 180

Qty 10+ W/Out Carpet 135
Qty10+ W/ Carpet 150

If we can get a group buy together, they will be wired for free with the drivers installed (140 dollars for the drivers total). Less than 5 will cost 5 dollars per unit.

I give the option of doing your own carpet because I found a nice matching blue for my car, but don't have matching carpets for every color. The easiest thing for you to do is just go to a local custom shop and pick out your color. You can either carpet it yourself, or send it to ED for the extra 15 bucks. Cost of carpet is extra. Shipping is dependent on location. Figure a 27 pound shipping weight from 50208. Fedex is the suggested carrier. I ran some numbers and it looks like it should be 10-25 bucks anywhere in the country...but don't quote me on that.

Where can you purchase said subs? I need to replace the no-name hooptie in the spare tire well of mine.

Specs? (on the sub, the box is pretty self-explaining )

These guys are truly great to deal with. Its like a bunch of your car audio buddies, who just so happen to make tremendously good products without the marketing, hype, mark-up, and middlemen.

Sub box is .6cf taking into account the rings and the sub's volume. For the power I am going to run, ed says that it is perfect. They have the cad files now and say it is a very good design which should have no sound quality issues.

I would definitely be down with that, but it will need to have some strong covers....

What would you do about the brace?

Could prolly mount one below the brace. I once stuffed a 12" Fosgate sub into that area. Didn't have it mounted, but it did fit below the brace area.

That is awesome. I would buy one right now if I cared about having music in my 245.

ps. i honestly think it would be easier to run with a single driver, it would allow you to get away with a smaller box overall. one of their slim 10s or one of their 7.25"ers would be choice, i'd think. and if amped properly, still sound great

I have a 1cu.ft. box in my passenger side well. I just took the brace out, cut the floor piece to go around the box, and screwed a couple 1x1's to the box so the floor has something to sit on. I have an Eclipse 12" powered by an Alpine MRP-M450 and it gets pretty damn loud. Who need's carpet? just get a gallon of Duplicolor roll on bedliner, looks good and is durable.

.6 cf for both drivers. The drivers operate best between .3 and .5 each. For more power (I am running 600 RMS), .3 each is better. I was going to do a single 10 inch, but it didn't have enough ooomph with 300 RMS. 2 should be just what the doctor ordered.

I designed it so that the sub will be low enough that a metal cover can be put on and still be flush with the floor. I have found a couple metal ones that look pretty beefy and are cheap. I haul stuff in my car a lot, so this was a primary concern with me. The sub is .5 inches tall with 9mm maximum excursion above the top plane. The sub is recessed .75 inches in the wood and the carpet is another .15 inches. The covers I found are .4-.5 inches tall...so it works perfectly. I also found a perfect carpet to match the Blue interiors today.

I had seen Issac's setup after I came up with this and thought it was well done. I figured if I went through the trouble of planning all this out (Everything JUST works out with the drivers and what space is back there) that I would offer it to my fellow T-brickers. Elemental Designs loves it and are excited to work with me on it and try to get the price down if I can get 5-10 orders. More than likely, it will be available with an ED logo CNC'd into it for a custom touch.

Another (more expensive) option I am working on with them:

Would hold an Alpine PDX600 amp and with a few mods come in at .6cf.

Edit:

Pricing for option number 2:

As denoted :
Matte Black (cheap) : Typical black paint. As I would advise not to go this route due to
a seem that will be physically seen. You will see this seem. Cosmetically I
think it will take away from the look of the cabinet.

OPrimer : This will cover up the seam a lot better. This is a highly viscous
polymer base coat designed for use with Odye paint. It will have a higher end
look than the Matte paint.

For Alpine Amp Cabinet Integration
Carpet to Amp Hole
Paint in Amp hole

Qty 1-5 W/Out Carpet + Paint 215
Qty 1-5 W/ Carpet + Matte Black 265
Qty 1-5 W/ Carpet + OPrimer 285

Qty 5-10 W/Out Carpet + Paint 205
Qty 5-10 W/ Carpet + Matte Black 255
Qty 5-10 W/ Carpet + OPrimer 275

Qty 10+ W/Out Carpet + Paint 200
Qty 10+ W/ Carpet + Matte Black 225
Qty 10+ W/ Carpet + OPrimer 235

Shipping should be pretty much the same-- maybe a couple dollars extra.
