Default Race Gas

Can I get away with running 110 leaded for a single track day? I have ten gallons, was unable to find unleaded local as of yet. I was thinking about using it as an additive. I know the risk is to the cat and the o2 sensor, neither of which I am attached to. Would prefer to run open dp but Sears point rules are that you have to have a full exhaust..

We're headed out at 10.. Any advice?

3/8 or 1/2" NPT works but isnt the official thread size. i forget which one it is(n't). buy one of each. its cheaper than a new O2 sensor

also, e-bay sells test pipes for like $30 if you want to save the cat. wont help tonite... but in the future.

haven't had a problem with leaded gas and sensors. might shorten the life span but its unlikely that a single hit will wipe it out.

+1

if the sensors are relatively new (which they should be due to a stage zero) then everything "should" be fine.

if you have the 10 yr old cat, it might sufer a little bit but who cares your gonna replace that anywya.

Thanks for the input, I picked up the plugs. Once the car cools down a little bit I'll make sure the o2's broken free. Should I just roll up with an empty tank and go full race gas or mix it?

Gone in 13. I'm hoping for a low fifteen if I can get any kind of hook at all, I think I've gotten slower with the stick and bigger wheels but oh well.. Nice cold day. Wish me luck, I'll report back late tonight or tomorrow.

what are your mods? & what car?

as far as the race gas, i would roll up on an empty tank. might as well get the best use out of the rg while you have it.

yeah, me too. definitely don't worry about the O2 and cat then. A full day at a road course (the real "Sears Point") would still be OK.

I didn't know you could still get leaded fuel
guess so...but not for long

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline
...fuel containing lead may continue to be sold for off-road uses,
including aircraft, racing cars, farm equipment, and marine engines until 2008

http://www.epa.gov/history/topics/lead/02.htm

good riddance

Too late for now, but the thread is 18x1.5 IIRC. Plugs can be had easily enough at the local autozone/kragen/whatever chain store in the 'Help' isle.

For drag's I wouldn't worry about the cat or O2. Yeah, it'll shorten the life a little on each, but not enough to worry about.

Good luck!! Go break something!
