Default Here we grow again! 1994 940

Went to Asheville, NC last weekend and met Patrick (blacknite3). Patrick is one AWESOME turbo-bricker. He had a need and so did I... we each had what the other wanted. He needed to make a hole in the driveway and I needed a car for my daughter. (OK so I needed a car for her that should would want to drive - she doesn't like my silver 754TI for some reason and I'd rather she not drive that car anyway - it's MINE!)

Enter one 1994 940 Turbo
See thread here:
http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=122356

After a wee bit of aggravation (and a WHOLE lot of thankfullness that we brought the Escalade) the car is now resting comfortably at my in-law's place and will be undergoing a host of procedures in the near future.
Head gasket
Seals
Oil pump
Water pump
Battery
Tires
Clean-up
Timing belt
Turbo replacement - 15g sitting on the shelf unless I can find a good stocker for cheap... or maybe rebuild this one?

Of course I'll clean the head and piston tops while it's apart. Maybe throw some Somender grooves in there and gasket-match port the intake/exhaust. Pretty much everything that my Silver car got.
http://forums.turbobricks.com/showpo...86&postcount=5
http://forums.turbobricks.com/showpo...1&postcount=12

I've already taken her to the car wash to clean under the hood. Sprayed a full can of Engine Brite under there and used the high pressure to get some gunk off.

This is showroom so I will provide a pic to appease the TTIWWOP gods:

Much thanks to Patrick and his family for all that they did (or 'put up with' in the case of Patrick's wife and child).
And thanks to my Lovely wife and super kids for being REALLY cool about everything too!

This thread will be updated as progress is made.

Yeah this is really becoming a problem. Even a Volvo guy like me knows when enough is enough. So you have a total of 7 vehicles? One for each day of the week? Where do you park all of these?

Meh, everyone's limits are different I guess. Plus, I'm working from a plan.

The 850 has been for sale for a while. The price just goes up the more I do to it. It will be done/completed/gone by Summer at the latest.
I had planned to give the burgundy car to my daughter, but the Wife seems to like it too much to let it go.
Red is my DD, Silver is my love, Escalade is our weekend/fun/tow vehicle.
Storm I'm saving... not exactly sure why. If gas keeps climbing I'll drop a new battery in and start driving it again.

My in-laws have about 10 acres and they live 2 miles away. No worries on storage.

Yes.

I was really wanting this to be a sedan, but I couldn't argue with the price.

wait, wait, you didn't argue with the price to begine with, your wife did. If your explanation was an attempt at a hicku (sp?), you suck.

Glad to see the wagon is going to get the royal treatment all Volvos deserve Always feels strange seeing one of them go but I have to do what's best for the Volvos in the world. When I bought my SE in November the wife made a new rule where any future Volvo purchases require that I get rid of 2 others. I understand Chris now has the same rule (at least I think that's what his wife said).

-T? Why? I'm going to re-T it. Insurance on the turbo cars isn't that high - about the same as my old Dodge minivan.

Pulled the valve cover last night and proceeded to do the following...

That's gonna take a LOT of scrubbin!

So let's add bearings and oil pump to the list and do this puppy right!

Cleaning and diassembly fun...

Dirty Girl:

Mmmm... Crusty!

After the first pass with the pressure washer:

Pistons and head get cleaned this weekend. Debating whether I should port-match this one or not. I probably will just cuz I'll kick myself if I don't.

Oh yeah, someone likes the orange gasket-maker goop.

Most of the sludge is now gone from the bay and the engine is ready to pull except for the tranny/block bolts and motor mounts.
She comes out this weekend.
