Well Doug did it to clear the brakes IIRC. And I think the Swedes (as usual) beat us to the punch.

He had different wheels at first IIRC Until he bought the brake kit and then needed something bigger. Besides Dougs car had one of a FEW C/F hoods !!

Geoff bought his with the 17" pegs from another member long ago.

So I dare say, it was his 242, then Doug's former 242, then yours.

He had THE cf hood. His was the first one made and it was his hood that Gemini modeled it after.

Hah, that sounds about right! My 242 was wearing pegs well before 2003 with the previous owner.. and then I had the car in 2004. Just haven't had it out much.

I think i like the Moda R6 that Doug originally had on is 242 first better. I love those wheels, which is why I bought a set of 18s for my upcoming 960 (maybe I am a copy cat).

A guy named Nick Cronan owned Geoff's car before him, and I'm 99% sure he had pegs on his before doug did.

Yours and Nick's appear to be the same #175 redwood metallic color (i think chopstick's car is too), which is cool. I like that color a lot

My cay was originally redwood metallic too, but it looks nasty when not garage kept it's whole life, the clear always chips off and it fades. I changed it to the ford King Ranch color which is similar but 1000x's nicer

The trend a few of us have noticed is that maroon 242s look OK in pictures, but bad in person. Some don't even look good in pictures. I could name several.

And, some maroon 242's, namely '84 Turbos, are actually metallic turd, #205... Redwood metallic looks decent, when the clearcoat's good. My '83 245 looks pretty decent on the hood and on the sides, but not too good from the roof angle... Arizona heat FTL...

So the trend is:

- Big wheels
- 242's
- Maroon paint
- Flathoods

I would hardly call three cars that share these things a "trend". More like an homage to Doug...
