I miss it  and hope it is doing well. I think it went to Idaho if I remember right.
84 245ti with the basic mods. IPD Sways, K&N filter 2.5 exhaust, Bilsteins, lowered just a little (cut springs) cross-drilled rotors, blacked out emblems, VDO boost guage, 1 bar boost, and still original paint.

hahaha if you think that's stunning, you should see the condition that most 240's are down here... in the JUNKYARD!

on the road, they seem to be in worse shape than in the junkyard... go figure

anyhoo, most people take care of their 240's down here... with the major problems ecompassing POS yellowed plastic headlights... dings on the doors... quashed drivers seat...

but otherwise perfect.

I saw the other day a '83 242Ti red with black leather interior (replaced driver seat cover with new NOS cover!) with IPD bars, perfect suspension, verrry nice OD (a M46!), and perfect virgos... 102k miles... new watercooled turbo (converted IC)... go for $3200... talk about a PERFECT car!

I drove it and man... talk about silk. I did donuts in the parking lot, which I have never done in my car... (not the power thing, not a problem there, but the bilsteins are a bit stiff for that kind of fun)

They come by once in a while at work... most volvos down here are really nice and easily fixed.

WOW! talk about reviving an old post!

Well he IS here on turbobricks! I just got a PM from him.

Sounds like the ole bugger is alive and kickin' still!

Damn, I miss it.

Part of his PM to me about the brown wagon:
"The car has been great. Last summer I entered it in a hill climb up the brand new road that leads up to the ski resort here. So all the cars are lined up with thier time slips on the wind shield and an older guy with a turbo 911 porshe says to the organiser "I think that there is something wrong with the timing, supposedley this car is faster than mine"
The response... "there is nothing wrong with the timing"

I was actually faster than 2 911 turbos, it was a good time, windy road 4 percent grade, both lanes and no ticket possible. 92 MPH on a windy mountain road with no guard rails ."

Yeah I know what it's like, I really miss my '84 245.

http://home.att.net/~looks.impossible/Volvo/84Volvo.htm

I used to wax every bit of exposed paint under the hood every two years as well as the door jambs and any exposed paint inside the car too. Carpet front and rear was absolutely like new, as were all the seats, even the driver's seat cover showed no trace of wear.

Matt was right about Volvos in the junkyards around Dallas, I've seen pleanty that were in mint condition, no damage at all and under 80k miles. In some junkyards the first thing they do is run a forklift through the front window, tearing off the headrests on the way and stack'em 3 high.

I can't believe how much this post effected me last night.. I stayed up maybe 2 hours thinking of all the good times I had with him I remember the first time I called him up and we were talking about how he formed a bubble of oil in the flame trap thing on his early b21f valve cover, and it exploded all over the engine bay during an autoX event.. and noone knew WTF blew up to cause that much oil leakage. heh... the good ole days. I don't think things will ever be that good again, they might, but w/o him things just seem dull.

He has been all my inspiration for getting things done this summer tranny swap wise, and will be there for me during my turbo swap

Still runs like a champ, 205,000 miles.

I added some upper strut tower braces from IPD and put the bilstiens in just after I got it along with hella headlights. The car is actually not my daily driver anymore. I now have a 03' VW 1.9L turbo Diesel, I already have a chip in it but it can't touch the Volvo in straight line speed, but makes it up in the corners even with bilstiens in the volvo.

I drive the car fast but maintain it well, the rear wheel drive in the winter is the best, the car does not leave the driveway without getting sideways , on purpose of course. Mabye I watched to much dukes of hazzard as a kid, but I throttle steer through corners all the time in winter.

I like the stereo up top better so I removed the volts and oil pressure gauges. I relocated the clock and boost gauge (VDO calibrated one) to the single spots.

I keep close enough tabs on everything to not really need a stock oil pressure and volt gauge anyways. I could've swapped the clock out for one of those also if I wanted to monitor them.
