Default Here are the EXACT K cam specs

Here are the exact specs of the K Cam. The cam was stuck into a cam reader at a cam grinding shop and digitally fed into a machine. Hope this clears up any muddy areas as to what people specify for lift/duration/etc when designing their engines

I'd love to see the full specs on others like the D and H cams. But either way this is great information, nothing like what we have been going off before.

Cool. 237 @ 50, that's a pretty beefy cam.. How much does it cost to get this done?

That is an awesome machine! I always wondered how they figured out cam specs, I assumed it invloved black magic and goat sacrifice. Glad to hear its not pagan at all.

That's some pretty cool information. It also proves that to rate a Volvo cam you should reference the lift and duration at .020" lift not the standard .050" that most US cam companies use. Credit for that knowledge is from Thomas Fritz. If you want to learn a lot about how the Volvo cams work. Read the Mushroom Lifter Effect on Thomas's Pbase page.

i can send an M and a T and A to be analyzed if you can get them back to me in relatively short order. IPD turbo too. i might also be able to get an Enem V15NA and a custom "GT6" cam as well.

Wow, tangible (kind of) data, and usefull too. Thanks for sharing this with all of us, and it would be very intresting to see the results of the other OEM cams as well.

So yeah, thanks.

Sweet. Thanks for posting that.

I have a T cam that just came off my 242 if you want to borrow it. Shoot me a PM. I can bring it Sunday if you're going to the meet.

is this machine able to do other configurations for cams (IE inline 5?). I don't mind paying shipping both ways if so.

also, the GT6 isn't a true GT6, but a custom grind by Crower to mimic the GT6 more or less. just would be nice for comparisons

this machine reads the first lobes (or whatever you set it to). On the bottom of the chart it will say "for cylinder" and that is what it is reading off of.

VERY tangible data. This is extremely useful for determining if the cam you are using will match up to your goals. People tend to focus on the static compression ratio when looking at modifying engines, but the real thing one should focus on is the DYNAMIC compression ratio. With the right cam, you can make a 13:1 SCR engine behave more like a 10:1.

Send me a pm if you want some other cams checked. Sooner is better than later, as I hate... HATE going to tacoma (king county snob), and would rather do a whole ****load in one batch.

Where are you located? I have a Penta PZ cam I'd like to know the specs on, but I will warn you that if I do not get it back I will hunt you down.

so if I send you ~8 cams and a coupla bucks for your time (and the cam guy's time), plus pay shipping both ways, we could do this thing like in a week and a half-two week timeframe? some of these cams will be destined for cars that are scheduled to run shortly (no, not mine ) and we'd need them back sooner than later

Hey fryea can you PM me your cell number. I will be down in Lake City on Friday installing a clutch in my 744. If that doesn't work then I will be available after ~6 on both Saturday and Sunday.

Those are really good numbers to have, but I agree it'd be a lot more helpful to have numbers on cams that aren't already extensively documented, like the B and the H. The B is pretty much an enigma.
