Default Thoughts on IPD Sports exhaust for 240?

Dunno if this would be the right section but,
Has anyone bought it? What are your thoughts? Worth the money?

I had one on my '89 244, and it definately woke the car up a little. If you want a bolt in solution, its pretty good. If you can do the work yourself, the same thing can be done for cheaper. Its hard to beat IPDs customer service and dedication to the Volvo community though.

Bought a slightly used one many years ago. It was worth the ~$100 I paid at the time. I wouldn't pay the cost of it new. It's not hard to make something similar for less money, but the IPD kit is bolt-on, which is appealing.

It's slightly louder than a stock exhaust (difference between silence and not). Performance increase...not much.

Not enough demand at the price they would have to charge.

wait until Jesse is back in town, we need a 240 to use as a jig for stock exhaust parts and we could use yours to build an exhaust and jig for cat back setups

Default ipd Sport exhaust

I installed one on my 1983 GL this weekend. It is not offensively loud at all. My wife didn't even notice the difference in the sound. As far as performance goes, I think that when I let my foot off of the gas peddle it feels as if the car coasts with less engine back pressure. Some of you my recognize my car. I won third place at the EUROfest in Spartinburg, SC this year. I would post some pix but I need step by step info on how to do so. Mac user.

Well I went down to a local shop and paid $ 220 for 2.5 from right behind the cat. Mandrel bent into a round center inlet and outlet. Was kinda loud when you would get on the throttle but it had good throttle response. I kinda like it.

What i've done/should have done with my exhaust consists of this:
-FCP turbo exhaust stuff had to get a pipe from the under axle bit to connect to the cat
-Discover Cat is melted :S get an fcp one to replace..
-Header pipe rusts out.. get a early long runner fcp one for $75 from bosal.. sweet deal compared to the heat shielded direct fit one..

How would i have done it differently!?
-early header pipe, cut right before the rear flange, extend 2" and rotate to appropriate stock location.
-2.25" universal cat, weld on flange on one end, and then extend some good quality if not stainless pipe back to where the under axle pipe joins.. no extra clamping nonsense..
-turbo stuff, or custom bend up some piping and a magnaflow or equivalent..

The ideal imo would be a proper 4-2-1 header, 2.5" cat, SS 2.5" piping and one magnaflow at the rear, and maybe add a fancy tip for good measure.. but that's more $$$ for sure..
