The Car is a 1988 240 DL with M-47
I picked it up a few years ago for next to nothing from my father in law who had it on his lot as a tow away. The previous owner had much the front A arm and bent the strut so After getting those fixed It became my new daily driver until I find something better . . . .at least that is what I thought would happen. Here she is as I first had her. ![]() Drove it like this for a while until Tilong (OldschoolEuro) offered me up a set of Virgos. I couldn't pass them up so on they went. ![]() Then it snowed ![]() and I realized how crappy it handled with general all season tires. So I sourced a set of Coronas and had them fitted with Firestone Winterforce Tires. If you haven't tried them I highly recommend them. ![]() Later on I decided to start messing with things so in my fool hardiness I yanked out the air box and made my own intake ![]() ![]() You may now flame away. While it did pull some fresh air from the front of the car it worked great for a hot air intake. But hay it sounded cool thats worth something right. And this is where the Volvo bug really hit me. After reading tons of stuff on this sight, OVT, VS & The Volvo Forums I finally decided that i was going to eventually +T my car. So I sourced an K cam and that went in timed straight up. I loved the power gain from 3K on up. My Chrysler system finally fried so I wired in a EZK from a LH2.2 740TIC. Using this guide ![]() and this thread http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=129382 I managed to Get it done with no problem. Here are some photos of the process. The wiring nightmare ![]() The wiring all sorted ![]() Into the car it went I then decided that, since I was going be adding more gauges, I would move my stereo to the bottom location The pull apart. ![]() Holy extra wires Batman! ![]() Rewiring ![]() The Final Product with my new Boost/Vacuum gauge installed ![]() Then I thought My car should handle better so I nabbed a set of used IPD 25/22 sways and lopped the stock springs (2 off the front to be exact) Before ![]() After ![]() ![]() Much better. So how about a +T . . . . . . ![]() +T specs Engine: 88 B230F w/ 160K miles Turbo: Garrett T25 Ex. Manifold: 90+ Intercooler: Stock from 89 740tic Cam: “K” timed Straight up Injectors: Red tops (Bosch 280-150-756) Flow rate - 30.55 lbs/hr @ 3 Bar, FPR: Stock 3bar from 740tic Oil feed: Made by Cravingboost.com Oil Cooler: Volvo type found on B21FT 240s Downpipe: 3” made by Mike “Thelostartof” Cat : 3”in/out Goerlich brand Muffler: 3” in/out Dynomax Ultraflow More Photos ![]() ![]() ![]() Miscellaneous while doing the +T New intake and exhaust gaskets New flame trap box New oil pan gasket New front main seal New cam seals New valve cover gasket New exhaust studs and lock nuts New valve train hushers New O2 sensor Also new engine and trany mounts Degrease and scrub down block and anything around block My first power goal will be 200hp at the wheels. Doable with what i have? we shall see. Last edited by Thor; 04-15-2009 at 09:41 PM.. |

Going to cut the factory return and weld it to the pan then bridge it with high temp hose of some sort.

Get that hose from Napa. It's that green silicone hose. 14 bucks a foot when I replaced mine.

OK so I didn't do it in 10 hours or 24 but it took me about 5 days of working on it 2-4 hours at a time.
So here is the sequence of events. The 541 went in first ![]() Cut the blue/white wire going to pin 12 and spliced in the Black red wire in it's place ![]() ![]() Injectors went in next. ![]() ![]() Test started the car and it ran ![]() Next off came the intake manifold so that I could install a new manifold gasket and a new Flam Trap Box. ![]() You know I always wandered why my car idled rough. ![]() Off with the N/A Exhaust manifold! ![]() ![]() man that is one dirty engine block ![]() After a clean up I put in new studs followed by the turbo on 90+ Manifold. ![]() ![]() New rule #1 when using a Torque wrench . . . . . .Make sure it works! ![]() Luckily I had an extra stud I fixed that little bluder rather quickly. Hmmm . . . What to hold the top of the radiator to the top of the intercooler . . . . . . . . I know Zip Ties! ![]() ![]() On second thought . . . . . .I think not. ![]() ![]() Much better. Here is how I ended up doing my oil return. I took the pan off and made a compression fitting out of Brass fittings and a lot of silicone sealant. ![]() ![]() I also installed new engine mounts while I had the engine lifted up. 3" Down Pipe and new O2 sensor are now in. ![]() My rewiring job of the AMM wires after i relocated it to the Passenger side. ![]() How my intake looks. ![]() Now for my greatest accomplishment my oil feed and pressure switch set up. ![]() What you see is a 1/4" FNPT brass "T" fitting with 1/4" Bass Bullet threaded into the M14x1.5 threads. Now I know what you thinking "threads don't match!!!" But in reality they are close enough the thread in without leaking. The Oil pressure switch you see there is from a Mid 90's F150. The set up seams to work real well. ![]() So I got her started tonight and it seamed to run great. I'll post more photos later of my Exhaust system after it is completed. ![]() |
