Default LoL coming back to the darkside...partially. Caution V8 content

Well basically it started out as a joke. My buddy emailed me a CL post, and off it went. 2 weeks later I get a reply, and today I picked it up. Basically I never thought I'd sell my 850R for anything...well I guess I was wrong. Here I come again back to the darkside. Before it was the 1jzwagn...which was a flop. Now its the V8 wagon. '81 245, Chevy 350 w/ T5 trans, etc etc. Long story short: built in 95, this thing was taken apart to be painted and given to the guys son. The kid lost interest and the father had a really bad ankle and decided to pass it along. Funny part is, apparently it's been around town for years, and only recently decided to be 3hours away for me to pick up. Anyways I just got it home and started to clean it. Hadn't started in 6 months...but nothing a new battery couldn't help. Now to figure out exactly how I'm going to finish it up. For now I just took all the parts out (interior was taken out before and jams painted 601 red . Think it's going to be flat army green on black 18's (on the way). Anyways lets get some pics...

Oh and yes it runs...

So far the idea is to dynamat the entire car, put in a new dash/carpet/headliner, couple of new seats, tints, wheels, chop coils, paint, and call it a day for a bit.

Very awesome Mike!

That would be badass if you painted it olive drab.

Very doubtful that this thing is going to see forced induction anytime soon. Started to fill all the trim holes today...but it started to rain a bit so I stopped. I'll get some pics up of that when I finish

Finally started working on the car. Brought it to my buddies house, we are tearing out the engine/trans so that everything can be stripped and painted. Going to replace gaskets, and rebuild the transmission as well. Should have the car nice road worthy in a month or so...until then here is two pictures from our illegal drive to my buddies place. We had no tail lights, windows (other than windshield), and no turn signals that worked LOL

Sorry for the Iphone pictures, all I had on me at the time

Woot.

I'd think about some steely rims. Stealth/understatement.

Well, the transformation has begun. Engine is out, having gaskets replaced, etc. and being cleaned. Kinda pondering about just buying a completely new steering rack just b/c this one looks like it going to give me issues. Anyways pictures...

My buddy Rob in teh Bay

Bleed screw was loose...oops, lost a table and almost an engine/trans

C'mon. A 350? You can do so much better. 302, LT1/LT4, hell even LS1s are getting cheap these days...351W...the list goes on and on.

Turbocharge it, and instead of the typhoon, or syclone, we will call it the “light breeze” -mrsam740 referring to the Oldsmobile 4.3 diesel

Budget build my friend. I'll have it back on the road with a beautiful engine bay, and rebuilt front suspension for <$3500

Blower is next anyways

302s run about as cheap as 350s and they at least sound a helluva lot better, but hey, each to his own I guess...cool project none the less.

Haha kinda been a long time without any updates on this thing. Currently it sits, and slowly having money pour into it. At the moment before we can drop the engine back in the list goes...

Rebuild transmission
Paint engine bay
Rewire engine bay completely

lately we have gone through the engine and replaced all gaskets, sandblasted/painted parts as need be and had the headers sandblasted/coated

New parts-
Power steering pump
Rack/Pinion
Outer tie rods
Wires
Plugs
Pertronix ignition module
Coolant expansion tank
Oil pump
Fuel pump
Air filter

Misc -
100'x40'' Llumar 5% limo tint

Now the pics

When we flipped the engine on the stand I heard a nice scary loose metal sound....this is what we found

Pickup tube busted...apparently pretty common sadly. Luckily I was a lucky one who didn't have the engine grenade or cause any real damage. With the new pump here's how we fixed it for the new pump to make sure it'd never happen again.

Surprise! roller rocker set up. ****ing score

Paint started

Currently sits

Basically should hopefully have the car back up and running by the end of the month....but since I know how this **** works I'll be happy with it running/driving by the end of October

I'll update this again when I got more to show you guys
