As a GT owner from Australia (and a newbie to this board) I see by many of your 240 photographs show cars with clear indicator lenses on the front. Is this standard over there? I have the orange/clear lenses. I really want a clear set to make the newly restored car look even more special.

Any Ideas????/

ps. Some bloody nice GTs in America - Keep up the good work.
I wish we got the 240t (you lucky bastards)

Thankyou Swedespeed for that information.

I was a guest known as gtfeistyness

Now I am a member known at feistyGT (SORRY ABOUT THE CONFUSION)

If there is anyone in the US willing to do a straight swap please contact me asap (I am dead keen)

One of my lenses is 6 months old - the other is a couple of years older and very slightly faded. From memory there are no cracks etc.

Very happy to trade for some in similar condtion (if they are cracked then my vehicle will not be considered roadworthy - so these are of no use to me as it just gives the coppers something to get grumpy about.)

Another option is to buy new ones from JP Stlying in Finland:

Yes the cali front was an unpoular (rare) option but it did not have clear lenses here. There were probably only about 30 calis out of the 450 or so GTs sold in Australia. The cali front end was not very popular on any 2 series model sold here.

Thanks for the help though.

OZ didn't get the 240T for the same reason GB didnt, there's very tight clearance between the steering shaft and the exhaust/turbo. Some creative fellows have made it work (notably Anthony Hyde and the blokes who built the Group-A cars).

I'll see if I have some good lenses I could swap with you, email me volvo_bass@hotmail.com

I'd be intrested depending on how bad shipping costs would be.

Excellent!

I will email both of you as I have a friend who is keen as well.

As for shipping costs - well, we are paying our own so it is up to you to find the cheapest price.

I can only use the three screw type lens.[/b]

If anybody else is interested I could probably rustle up another couple of people to do the swap.

Thanks for that info GTLover (is that like "Chickenlover" from Southpark?)

They tried to give you the 240T, however, it was unable to be converted to LHD.

I am unclear as to what you're talking about...

I can get clear, orange or half/half lenses for dirt cheap...

Just a few notes on Australian Volvo history.

The "California front" in Australia only ever consisted of the quad square headlights, the turn signals and grilles remained "Euro" parts.

The "California front" was available on the 1980 264GLE and 265GLE, it seems about half of buyers opted for it, jusdging by the numbers I see on the roads today. It was an option on the 262c, but we only got about 75 of those here. Again from what I've seen about half the buyers went for the lights.

It was standard on the 1981 242GT (with a "flathood" grille), they changed the front in an attempt to sell the remaining '80 models.

I've got a full US front end on my car (Turbo grille, quad lights, clear lenses) on my car, I also did a direct swap with a guy in the US for the lenses. Note that you will need to use orange bulbs, as the orange reflector in the side isn't enough to make the light orange.
