Default drag video, and can you add me to the East vs West for 2009?

Not like the West needs any more help right now, but here is a video from last weekends racing. Just wanted to post the video and get my points on the board.

I hope there is an 11 second pass coming. But im not sure my clutch is going to live long enough for that to happen.

The shifting is bad on this run because the shift knob came off on the 2-3 shift. The 11s should come. Flat shifting just puts the clutch up in smoke though. I gotta be gentle with it.

The video is a little deceiving too. It sounds worse than it is because you can't even hear the engine until the wastegate opens. And thats a good 1/2 second after the gear change and power is down again. Slow spool, big top end.

seems like that might have hurt his feelings.

That is one badass wagon.

Love it.

That guy in the Evo must have NOT been happy. Get that clutch and flatshift going and it should turn 11's like cake.

Thanks gents. It would be nice to run 25-30 psi boost. The clutch is good for about 500 ft lbs on the dyno. But not more. Its really a decent clutch, and takes all I can give it on the launch and even 2nd gear. Its just 4th gear where it has trouble when everything is fully spooled and making happy torque, pushing through the wind, etc. Its going to take some serious money spent on a twin disk setup that doesn't exist for Volvos. It hasn't been an easy problem to solve. Especially for a street car. I don't want to run a race multi disk. They just can't take the daily slipping on the street. the car does go to work every day during the week.

The automatic idea is underway. But i gotta plan this right. 1. it has to hold the power. 2. it has to be able to shift manually for occaisonal track days at the road course. Just a couple things I don't want to give up just for a good drag race timeslip.

Oh, and the Evo X was modified some. I heard more boost at least. Thats what they run at 5800' altitude.

if you're going to road race an auto, esp a gm auto, you're going to want a serious transmission cooler, otherwise it won't take the abuse.

secrets? I don't know about that. I might be fooling around with some stuff on the bench here soon, I just haven't really been able to muster a lot of enthusiasm for a project thats cost as much as it has, esp given the results a relatively small amount of money injected into the evo has produced. :-/

I have a couple of ideas that I'm going to explore regarding some things.

and there could be a partial part-out coming soon (altho that shouldn't affect anything actively in the pipeline, so the info for other stuff will still be available)

Point taken. Though my engine oil heats up just as fast. Thats always the limiting factor at track days with the current setup. I'll plan that into the equation. The long uphill canyon races I do around here on trips to the mountains are about as abusive as track days the way I run them.

On the way to a mountain bike race last weekend over Berthoud Pass, I had a great time just rippin up the curvy roads above 10,000 altitude. Turbos always pay off up there. Everyone else is just suffering in the slow lane. And those roads are wide open in the summer when there is no ski traffic. Just beautiful driving.

twin disk setup does exist for a redblock .

you can have them with sprung centres and organic material .
