Well, we're back. We ran this weekend in stafford connecticut at the 24 hours of lemons. There was about 16 hours total of racetime in the 2 days. The car held itself together fabulously, not a single problem. There were 2 other 240s and one 740T.
the skinny on the car - 1991 240Dl wagon - Manual steering rack, ipd 25/25 sways, some mismatched boge rear shocks. - K Cam, A/C deleted, cherry bomb, cone filter - Fur coat on roof, sheet metal teeth and eyes We made a rookie mistake and ran some old free tires i got from a co-worker..well because they were free and we are poor. Yeah, don't do this, they provided the same amount of traction that your bigwheel tires did as a child. We ran them for 2 hours, we spun twice and ripped it sideways all over the track (36 second best time), so we swapped them out for some michelins on Hydras and i pulled off our best time (low 33 sec). We ran very consistently the whole race, nothing broke or leaked, and we'll be doing it again. When you get a penalty (spin, cone, etc.), you spin a wheel and the judges give you your punishment. Our first was called 'paint your ride with bob ross'...the first driver had to put an afro wig on and paint a landscape portrait on our hood. We had a math problem next, and another driver had to dress up as a woman with boobs and all and get his picture taken for the local paper....these punishments are very time consuming yet frickin hilarious. It was a blast driving with all the beater cars, and the lots of cheater cars. One car blew 2 engines and finished the race with it's third motor. A pimped out impala was voted by the drivers to be smashed to death, there was a sweet 240 that resembled a tipped cow. Here's my highlight pics that are in no particular order. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The other 240 wagon at the race was built by some guys in my office. That car has a bunch of parts from my garage on it, including a last minute voltage regulator that actually allowed it to run
. From what those guys said today the race was a blast. |

And an astro-turf-covered, pink-caged CRX surrounded by teletubbies, to top it all off. ![]() |
