I found this 1984 242 on Columbus, OH Criagslist for a couple hundred bucks.

It's hard to find one in this part of the country that's not completely rusted out... this one has a few spots around the wheel wells, but it is pretty solid! Nice custom interior, sunroof, popout rear windows, power windows and mirrors, etc., however it is automatic. 200k miles, drove it 80 miles home and it ran perfectly. I'm going to try to get it cleaned up and slammed by DubDash next weekend. All the lights work, converted to R134a, new radiator and alternator.

^^a little wishful thinking on the part of the PO

It should be a fun little project...

I like the interior look clean.it has a newer trunk lid on it. was it involved in a accident?

Nothing back there looks "fixed", but you never know. It has been painted once. Good eye, though!

The observant will notice a B230F in there. Looks like it's been there for a while- did they stick those in some late-year '84s or did someone swap it in?

Someone swapped it in. An easy swap since they are both LH injected engines. But the original would have been the B23F. Probably got the engine from the same car that they got the rear deck lid from.

Stuck on a new (used) crank pulley, fixed vacuum leak, charged A/C. Runs great, drives great, blows cold! I am surprised, but not complaining!

I got license plates, too. Ouch. The next 4 weeks until by birthday cost about $1/day for their "prorated" registration...
On a happier note, insurance is under $20/month.

Thats true... it does have an 86+ trunk lid... That would have had a b23f stock.

Nice find. Wish I could make it up for/see it at DubDash, but I'll be picking up a B21FT and M46 for my wagon that weekend.

It's definitely unusual to see an Ohio 240 in that kind of condition.

Looks like the car was previously a 240 Turbo, but with some DL stuff added, like the DL trim, etc on the outside of the body. Fuel filter's still in the engine compartment. On the LH-Jet 240's I've seen, the fuel filter is underneath the car, along with the main pump.

Lookin' good man. Drop it and I would say do a satin black paint job on that car, it'd look pretty awesome with that interior!

I am extremely glad that there are going to be more volvos at the dash this year! Last year it was just DaytonAE86 and me, and a dude in an 850.

MVP coilovers and 3" exhaust. Flowed 405 with a V15. Cossie turbine housing with upgraded compressor housing. 90+, IPD remote oil filter. Some other goodness, too. Been lots of fun over 25 years. Restored in 2k. Now ready for a 2nd restoration. 1993 245 Classic, 440k miles, enem V15. IPD bars and chassis braces. Simons sport exhaust from Scandix. sbabbs ezk chip. Been a good road warrior. Genuine Volvo rebuilt leaky M47.
