Default B-lennium's 164 '75 restauration

Hello guy's,

I am working on a 164 '75 for about a year now.

After reading on this forum and www.msefi.com i became interested in Mega squirt, i build a MSII computer, build a test-rig and ran the engine on the computer + Edis6 ignition.

Test rig

Ford mustang Edis6

I used the original distributor to cover the hole

An engine without a car is like Grand without the canyon

So I got the car from a neighbour for only a couple of hundred dollar. the car was in a not so bad state. I could patch it up and drive it, or I could go the total restoration route.
I chose the last one!

My final goal is a fun car (occasional trackcar) with a B30 Turbo engine!
I already have a nice Holset HX35 (new!) but first thinks first, no turbo without a car :P

PICS!!!!

A real american 164E Automatic with 80.000mile on the clock!

lots of work to be done here!

behind the signal-light

no more mister signal-light!

Big ass turbo!

Like I said I am working on the car for more than a year now, so more picture's will follow!

More Pictures!

Guess what i made?

A rig so i could rotate my car!

I made a rig so I could rotate my car, used the bumper mounting points
when the axles are removed I can tilt the car by hand!

I am using the rig so i could clean-up the bottom without hurting my back.
I had to remove alot of old paint and rust!

CLEAN!

I used 'rubber paint' to seal the floor of the car.

What a difference!

More pictures are coming!

This is the last picture reply, more will come eventually.

New bit for the back window

Ow my god I hate bondo work!

Bondo, more and more!

Clean fender

And finaly spraypainting!

My car on the trailer, the grey 164 is my dad's

Wrap up everything you don't what to paint!

Halfway

Finaly, BLACK!

It's looks like a car again!

I did a minor rebuild on the engine, new gaskets and oil cleaned it a bit and put on a new waterpump.
The gearbox is a M400 4 speed manual, way stronger than the BW35. I put new bearings in the box to be sure it can cope with my driving style :P

New clutch

A nice view of the engine and gearbox

Finaly together again

I removed the battery tray at the front and moved the battery to the back.
I picked a bmw 5 battery cable + connector-box at a local pick and pull.

Batterybox in the trunk

Connection-box

Starting to rewire the engine

I ditched the Edis6 module, I am driving the coilpack directly from the Mega squirt.

The brains of the beast

Triggerwheel and VRsensor

This is what the car looks like now

I ditched the big bumpercar bumpers and got something more nice and elegant.

Last week I won an E-bay auction on the German E-bay

2 of the 4 original Polaris wheels, I bet they look awesome!

These where the last pic's i have from my project, so now you know what Iam doing!
What do you think?

thanks for all the nice reactions!
what's left?

tuning would be a big issue.
mounting the wheels could be a problem.
lower the car.
building a turbo manifold/intake.
tuning again

do's anyone have a base tune for a b30?

nothing so far, i am looking for 300hp, that would be possible with stock internals.
the crank is a 8bolt one, so i could use M-rod if i am right.

good find!,

no I did not swap the panel, I yust removed the bar that holds the grill in the 75' , with the bar removed you can fit an early type grill.

Beautiful restoration work! Finally someone on here has the guts & money enough to turbocharge a B30! I've had to put off resto on my '71 for 2 years now but I shall have it running again by year end.

Hey a little update.

I am still fighting my megasquirt :P

got a nice idle now, no spikes (after some tweaking).
Next step? Idle control !

I am using a Bosch idle valve, but it won't work! valve is ok, the wiring is ok, now i have to open up the megasquirt again.

I also discovered my (NEW) masterbrake cilinder is faulty!, the second circuit is not working!.
now I am waiting on a new one, so i can finaly drive the car for the first time!

argh
