i dont have any LH or MS stuff yet...I'm just ripping crap out tomorrow. i think i'd rather just do MS. i'm not in a position to buy any ms setup, but thats definitely the route i'd rather go. especially since i want to go ahead and just mod the hell out of this car. I used to want to make it my DD, but i think the mustang (or whatever I replace it with, if i decide to replace it) will be my DD. modded mustangs are everywhere...modded volvos are unheard of.

get back to work.

REX flexplate is funny, it's a dual 18-2 pattern (or something like that). If you want to run wasted spark/lh 2.4 you'll need to swap to a 2.4 flexplate. Doesn't matter since the AW70 won't take the abuse very well; you might as well **** can it while you're in there.

thats what i was planning on doing. ideally i'd like to keep the short block how it is..provided its still in good shape. the head, i want to go in there and clean it up and put bigger vavles in it or something. when I get some time and money, i'm going to the j/y to look for an aw71 and flex plate and all that stuff to swap in place of the aw70.

as far as the turbo stuff goes, i should (derrick haha) have a 90+ coming my way, but i was also thinking of doing a kludge pipe like sam did.. I should have no problem finding a decent turbo (maybe a 15g, but i feel like I want to go bigger from the get-go), so should I just stick with the 90+ or go to the J-pipe?

I want this to be a very simple build... stock bottom end, worked head, good cam, aw71, G80 (but prob will just weld the rear when its first together), and a 15g or better. I want to at first run faster than my ****stang (easy task..runs high 13s with drag radials), but then i want it to run faster than derrick's car, then like 10s or something ridiculous.

pick a goal first.
examples:

a)You want to tear derricks' face off and then hand it back to him at the end of the track. Way forward: skip this 8v bull**** and move straight to the big guns. More money up front but you won't be cycling through setups on the way there.

b)you want to walk in derrick's foot steps. Way forward: dupe his setup.

Dude just put a 2Jz in it -- I mean, after all you've done it in a Solstice, how hard is it in a Volvo compared to that?!!

good point. now that you say that, i really want to do the first one.. I never looked at it like that.. like i'd spend a few hundred getting everything together the first time, then when thats good, another couple hundred getting slightly bigger stuff, then more hunneds getting biggest stuff.. all while wasting money in the middle.

hopefully i'll be moving back closer to home soon, then i'll really be able to start tearing this pos down

get it running, make it cheap as possible, enjoy the car. collect money, figure out what you want, collect parts. go big

two steps, if you're not completely happy with the car, it'll be motivation to get it right next time. and having the car sit for any longer might cause lost interest

240s would be alright, but i dont sit comfortably in them. and my biggest gripe (and the dealbreaker as to why i will not have one) is the fact that there is no ledge to rest your arm on the top of the door panel.

I did some serious thinking the past few days. i was hoping that me getting rid of the mustang will free up enough money to be able to blow more on the volvo.. while I am saving money, i still can't help but feeling like i'm wasting my money on this car. i wont be able to do anything on it in the next 2-3 years.. even if i put just 50 dollars a month toward the volvo, thats still $50 that I could be saving instead.
