whats even better is i assumed they'd be the mild R-sports but on checking the part number on Dave bartons site it seems there 552197 (Front) 552198 (rear) which to quote from his site.
acquired a new set (new old stock) of Volvo R-Sport 240 struts and shocks. These are no longer in production and very difficult to find. They are yellow in color and bear Volvo part numbers 552197 (front) and 552198 (rear). These shocks together make up PN 552094, which is designated as the "Rally gas-pressure shock absorber set - extra hard setting for advanced driving. Intended for Rally and Rallycross". There are more mild R-Sport sets out there too, such as part numbers 552195 (front) and 552196 (rear). These are gas shock absorbers that make up the "Road Gas Shock Kit" PN 552093 described as "moderately firm setting for road and rally". I have not seen these shocks, but I they are also yellow in color (although I have heard one report of a RED set). and yes there hard to compression, but stupidly hard to extend by hand again. |

I personally have never seen the ...195 shocks in yellow, only the harder ones ...197, the orange ones are the ones that volvo in sweden sold as "sportkit" to 240 together with harder and shorter springs.
I use them in the rear of my "playcar", good shocks that to. |

The dealer wants $250 a piece and IPD is something like $180 a piece. And no junkyard ever has them. All the ones that aren't broken are taken already. Both of mine have cracks in them. A large chunk out of the left one and the right one, plus a large crack where I stupidly put my knee through the right one. edit: o yeah, and my "chrome" strip is cracked in the middle. Seems more like shiny plastic to me. ![]() |

nah i've just been over them and theres some largish 1/2" chips out of a few of the lenses.
and the black one isn't LH on closer inspection (like actually looking at it rather then fawning over the shocks) it's a RH one which i've got already. |

I have one of the orange ones for the front and I'm looking for a partner for it. Anyone know how much those things typically run? I'd really like to ditch the KYB's and put them on.

FYI on the 700's the crome is a sticker that can be pulled off to make it black. Dont know about the 200 series but, I guess if you dont like crome you can give it a try.

Happy to help!
That has basically just paid my fuel money for collecting the B23ET, if it help's the standard damper's more than likely came of the 242GT that the b23 was destined for, the 242GT was a Saudi import so that might explain why they don't appear in Vadis. Sorry the lenses were of no use, at least you have some spare's or you could end up making some buck's by shipping em off to yank land, and end up with a free suspension upgrade :-) If I find anything else amongst the bundle of spare's that is of use to anyone I'll post it in "for sale". Laters Nick
