Hey, I painted that bus, in my buddy's front yard. LOL We used a two stage paint, but left off the clearcoat, so it's just plain exposed basecoat. That picture was taken at the Sacramento Bugorama around 2004, maybe? Right after taking this picture, we got on the freeway heading south on hwy99. The hood that you see on top flew off on the freeway, flipped about 10 feet higher than the top of the bus, and landed in the center of the slow lane. I was directly behind him, and ended up locking all 4 wheels then swerving to barely miss it. The hood ended up blowing off the road when I flew by it. We went back for it but it was ruined. Ended up getting sent to the scrap yard. Donny was too hungover to tie it down properly, I guess. So keep in mind, if you ever see a caravan of VWs heading down the freeway looking like there's so much stuff on the roof rack that it's ridiculous... that stuff does blow off sometimes. LOL Thanks for the memory, I had totally forgotten about that!

And in the second picture, you can see the front corner of my flat blue Ghia on the left side of the picture. And you can see the #70 gumball that was painted on my door, in the reflection on his bumper. That was taken at the Las Vegas Bugorama around 2006. Good times. I ended up getting a ticket for going 93mph in a 65 zone that year. Quite possibly the only time that cop will ever give an aircooled car a 90+ mph ticket in the middle of Death Valley in the middle of a summer day. LOL

yeah, there's a lot of ratted out old pickups around here and slo pokes have cruises all the time.

my dream of building one of those will hopefully come true this spring.
