Hey guys,
I am looking to buy an S60R 2004 with around 80k on the clock... what are things I should be aware of that the 04 had problems with, was their some kind of recall or later year upgrades that make an 04 not so good? Its from a dealer and has no mods, looks very clean black on black. Any info would help, I know a decent amount of info on the car and want to be an amateur expert when I go look at it. Thanks Matt |

I have a 2005 S60R. You'll want to get it Certified Pre-Owned if you can. Verify that the AWD is working. Mine needs to go back to the dealer *again* for this. They said it is working fine, the AWD dyno I put it on last Friday says different (at least I know I am not crazy now). CPO should cover the repairs...I hope.
The turning radius is similar to that of an aircraft carrier. Not a huge deal if you aren't in a place with small streets or cramped parking lots. However, it is something to be aware of. You *can* be out-turned by a Tahoe and people will give you dirty looks for swinging so wide to get into spots. That being said, I Love my R. It is a great daily driver and awesome on the highway. They aren't for everyone though. The active chassis can be finicky, the AWD is tempermental, and the engine is high-strung for a Volvo. All of it is quite expensive to have worked on. If you can stomach the above, then they are a wonderfully unique car.
