Mike, be sure to tell us how the new lighter works for you. By the pic it looks like the light/led sits on top of the unit and I'm wondering if that will effect where you're installing it. PS, I know all about that ground wire, remember my road trip up to see you? Ralph

Iwill. pretty sure the ctr console's lighter hole will need to be made a little larger. And I'm hoping that the light fixture attached to the lighter, will clear on back side of ctr console as well. I think it'll probably just barely fit in there.

I simply 'borrow' the "no-smoking" plugs out of rental car lighters, insert them into my car's lighter sockets and throw the heating element away.

Mike I really like what you've done to your car, and I mean everything, there's no loose ends when you're around
Also have you checked my ashtray lightning?

[QUOTE=smokeyfan1000;4019627]It's very hard to shake one's heritage I suppose. I do happen to have a letter that one of my distant relatives wrote to his family, after he was captured by the North, during the War Between the States.(better known as the Civil War) if that is any consolation.

Im related to Robert E. Lee.. Very, Very VERY distant. And I was born and raised in vermont.. Think he's rollin in his grave? haha.

Your car is so clean. You should definitely consider painting your side trim, it did wonders for me..

Yep, I've been hoarding small,Volvo 240 & 740 Interior lights for different things, and the bulb bases for years.

I have been considering just using a rocker switch type bulb, and socket, or something similarly small for the ashtray light. I want just enough lighting of ashtray to see it, but not be distracting while driving at night.

I'll probably mount the light on top after drilling a small hole in top of the ashtray recess/hole in the ctr console .

Not sure how/what I'm going to use to hold it/mount it yet though. But I'll come up with something.

Maybe make an aluminum bracket to hold it, dunno yet. I plan on installing & wiring the ashtray light when I install, and wire the lighter. Seeing as how I'll be wiring for lighting for both anyway

I'm related to Ronald Reagan, but it is waaaay, waaaay back too. I find it sorta strange that Ronald's son was also named Michael.

Our family's sir name was O'Reagan, when my ancestors first came from Ireland. Somewhere along the way, the 1st "a" was dropped from the name.

I'm wanting to find out if any of my Irish ancestors (if I understood the show correctly, I was tired) helped build the Titanic, after I saw the Nat Geo show on TV about where & how the ship was built, the other night.

Whole car is going to get a quality repaint in the not too distant future, after I do a few more mods. I'm going to do something to/about/ or for the trim. Not sure just what yet though.

I'm going to go with the bulbs I already have. LEDs is more than I want to go. Gonna use the free99 lights, & bases I have.

Nope. It does need a cyl head to ex manifold gasket though. leaking at ex. port # 3 instead of exhaust flowing into mani. Been leaking just eough to leak for a while now. Only discovered it after I had the SS ex. system installed.

Or have a parts one coated and swap it on.

No turbo= no HG problems.

I have a less pitted/rusted ex. maini in the waiting. Have not had the chance to recall JetHot, to see if they do Cast iron ex. manis.

If they do I'll get it jet hotted, if not I'll check into ceramic coating.

Pfft. Please. My old B21 popped it twice.

Once on July 4, 2006. Thermostat failed, and in my noobery (I was 16), I drove it until the motor literally locked up.

New HG, and all was good until Feb. 2010. That time it just popped randomly. No idea what happened. Not bad, but enough to put it down.

I've got to do the one in my girlfriend's car this summer. It's approaching 250k or so, and is slowly seeping from right above the alternator.

Waiting on Ford dealership to fix the Lincoln LS(140,000 mile Jaggy catastrphic engine failure) before I can continue anything major or minor on the build. Playing taxi for another week or two.

How about that? A 190,000+ miler 1991 240 filling in for a 2001 Lincoln LS with 140,000 mile dead engine?

Also notice the outer circumference of the entire panel has not been completely finished trimming.

That'll happen after I glue it down, and glue drys. No bare/uncovered spots that way

Both are now vents trimmed out...

Hey do you have a source for those OEM plastic cover inserts for the rear speaker shelf? Mine have gone to crap from the sun and need replaced.
