Going to wait until we get the suspension stuff on, motor reinstalled and the rims/tires mounted to see what it looks like sitting there....then we'll try and answer the question...should we lower....hmmmm....!

ok, had a perfect opp to test fit my tire/rim choice when my body guy put the roller wheels on yesterday. Engine bay gets painted tonight and then its off to have his engine reinstalled (2 days or so) then back to the garage for his painting. I added more pics to my site if you have some time to browse, I even got the color sample spray into a few of them...

Good color choice! I think it fits the era of the car quite nice.

Single stage, I'm assuming?

Thank you shellshock, I agree and always loved the color during the sixties, should go nice with the brown interior. Don't know the difference between one/two stages so I can't tell you. Roger, I call the package tray the shelf in the rear of the car above the seats where rear speakers are mounted and the rear defroster vents are located.

Engine's back in and running, although with a fast idle issue to be resolved. Monday back to the garage for paint to the body. More pics here:

Are you going to remove the windscreen before doing the rest of the body paint?
It'd be a great time to move to a later style windscreen seal/rubber and would make sure the paint looks absolutely perfect.

I guess the GLT's and Turbo 240s all had vented and the DLs not? Wonder if all GL's had them. Up to a certain date it must have been tied to these trim levels somehow.
GL, GLT, Turbos and starting around 83-85 DL wagons got vented brakes as well. DL sedans got solid rotors through 86.

Rebuilt brake calipers are cheap at around $40 each if you shop around. Buy the vented ones (just tell them your car is a "Turbo") along with the vented rotors. There is nothing else to it. All bolts up the same, just works much better.

Front left caliper
Front right caliper

Front rotors x2

For future projects, just remove the trim from around the windshield (or remove windshield to check for rust), paint car and then install new windshield. results will be nicer (no tape lines) and it's easier on the body/paint guy.

I've always used PBR Ceramic (all my cars get these) or PBR Deluxe for customers that don't care as much about spirited driving. Neither seems to produce horrendus amounts of dust to me, but that isn't something I typically look for in a brake pad either. Though I do get asked it rather often.

Some PS fun to help keep you motivated...

Need a sig pic?

Group A, fabulous work with PS on my resto... We think alike. Just ordered IPD lowering springs, but I think I might only use the front set. I am going to tint, but not that dark. Really good job with the front grill etc, how did you manage that perspective? I'm an Adobe user as well and would like to know what steps you took to do the transformation of lowering and the grill, send me an email rporzio@verizon.net.

I may do things differently then others because I'm self taught with PS.

Front grill/headlights/bumper = Cut it off another car with roughly same angle (I actually had to flip this one, notice the slash in the grill is reversed.). Then I scale it close to the right size. Then I go to edit, transform, distort and distort it into position.

Lowering = I use the masking mode. I pick an easy break line on the right and left of the car and I highlight the car minus the wheels on up. I switch back to the regular mode, select, inverse, copy n paste it then lower the new peice to where I want it. Edit, transform, rotate to get it to the rake I want. Trim out the fenderwells, edges and kinda blend it it together best I can. I then trim the picture size down as there is usually an odd line up top that is easier to trim than fix.

Front maybe, a little too low for me in the rear...! I want somewhat of a rake. Group A did a great job; makes it easier to visualize...
