Default New look for the crusty old PV's carbs...

New on the left, old on the right.

The outer plate fell off the back carb on the last road trip, and the filter fell down onto the manifold and fried. I figured instead of just replacing it I'd bling it up a little.

I guess I'll get some foam filters for normal usage.

The old thing always looks so filthy in pictures. I should clean it once in an ever.

JohnMc,
I'm not too familiar with your setup but, I was helping my neighbor get his old beetle running last week. It has two downdraft Webers with the little velocity stacks like on you rear carb. They mount inside K&N air filters though. There is a sub plate that mounts under the velo stacks and the K&N's mount to this. Seems like the best of both worlds, is this what you have?
I could get some pics if your interested.

I coudn't help but notice your fuel lines...I'm planning on redoing my Jeep lines somewhat like this article outlines as my next project.

My K&N filters were short, no room for stacks underneath them. The PV engine bay tapers toward the front and I didn't really have room for the tall filters. These stacks will be out in the open, with slip on foam filter 'socks' for regular use.

Mavawreck - yeah, the fuel lines are a bit hoopty. It matches the rest of the car.

It's a hoot. I've owned a lot of old Volvo's. PV, 122 sedan, 122 wagon, 145E, two 1800E's, and the 245. The PV is somehow the most fun to drive out of all of them. Not sure why. The light weight helps, it's 2250 lbs. It has wide tires, IPD swayss, Bilstein shocks now, and around 170 - 175 hp with an M41 OD trans, so it's pretty quick and handles well. But even when it had 95 tired HP and leaned WAY over around corners it was a lot of fun.
