Hey. I'm not sure this is the right section for this. I'm new to this site and Volvos. I joined the site to keep an eye out for a nice pre-79 Volvo. For the past 7 years I've had a '69 MGB GT but I sold that this summer to try something new. Through my local Craigslist I found what seems to be a driver 122s 4 door for cheap. I looked at it in a underground parking garage, foolishly forgetting my flashlight, and drove it around that garage. To help me make up my mind I've got a number of questions. Is this the right section of the site to ask those?

Thanks Quin.
There was one thing I found odd with the car I looked at. Behind the front wheels there were sheet metal panels in front of the bulkhead, like sheet metal mudflaps inside the fender. They seemed to be only fastened at the top and inside edge. Are these stock or a common modification? It was dark so I couldn't see if they were covering up rust. I know there's some rust in the spare tire well. Any other areas I should look closely at? I would mostly be using this car as a daily-ish driver. Are there some common reliability modifications people perform? With MGs there were aftermarket fuse boxes and relay kits to improve the lighting and reliability. What are some of the common performance mods for brakes, suspension, engine? Are there some books or online write ups that can answer these questions? |
