Default EU6.0 - Official thread - July 31, 2011!

Since the EU5.0 thread started around this time of the year as well, I will make it a tradition to start planning in January. So we now start with planning EU6.0

As we all know, the main goal is to visit the Nürburgring (Nordschleife) again.

Although it is nice to see if there are other activities that can be planned, we know from previous years that going to the Ring, driving, chatting etc. will take almost an entire day already.. but don't hesitate to come up with suggestions

A poll is made so that we can see which weeks in the summer of 2011 that we can do this in.
I personally like to have the meet in the 3rd or 4th week of July, possibly first week of August.

The poll is of course multiple choice type so that you can select all the weeks that you might be available.

The date is set: Sunday, 31st of July

Option for folks who'd like to be there 2 days: Drive Saturday and find somewhere to sleep

People going to the Nürburgring, and the car they will bring:

Philip (Turbosteen): 760 16VT
Jan Willem (JW240): 240+T
Ruben (Ruben): Die-Hatsu Charade
Boris (Mr. Borrie): 360 Cup
Joris (volvo78244): 960 16VT
Aleksandr (sass740): 740 16V
Jan (Janspeed): E46 320d
Dirk (Dirk242): 245+T
Some more swedes: Multiple Volvo's
Robbert (Dopski) & unknown brother: 744
Leôn (760Turbo83): 760 T
Leon (Leon_pp): 242+T
Nicky (Nick740): 242T
Pieter Baas (PB240): 242
...
..
.
(I can almost copy the list from last year I guess, but we'll wait and see anyway)

Please copy paste the list and add yourself..

Are there anymore videos from last year online? I know 'the Swedes' made a few videos and other people as well..

You know i will be there, this year White-Rice will have to stay home due to some rebuilding and waiting for being tax free by the end of the year.
Not sure about when will be best for me all i know we NEED to check for events and plan around them if it involves trucks.
If i make it to the end of the Volvo 360CUP i will take the 360 CUP spec to the rings see what she can do.

Philip (Turbosteen): 760 16VT
Jan Willem (JW240): 240+T
Ruben (Ruben): 340 ''Winner'' B14+T
Boris (Mr.Borrie) 360 Cup

Hope we can still drive the Ring, I heard some weird **** is going on over there.
Perhaps we can do several days, I guess that could be possible for me this year.

Like Philip said, I'm open for suggestions ...

I think Jens will also be there. Don´t know with which car yet. Maybe with his 360 GLE or with my 1.7 340.
I´d be interested to stay longer.

We should drive to the stelvio pass. There is an old abbey where we could stay on the cheap only 20 miles from the pass.

If where's gonna roadtrip i'm not so sure i'd like the stiff suspension and the bad roads too much
How many Km's is that stelvio pass, thats the one from the topgear episode right?

Jep that´s the one! In Switzerland-Italy (abbey is in Switzerland) so the drive there will already brake your back. Italian roads suck! Thinking about driving down there in May-June myself to celibrate my graduation.

i am still not sure what i am going to do.
i am thinking of buying another newer car and it might not be another Volvo...
(smaller, cheaper to run.) if i do this i will not mod it and nor will i take it on the track. That would stimulate me to finish the BMW.

right now the 940 has some problems, the oilleak from turbo return has come back, the exhaust needs some rewelding. the 90+ manifold needs new bigger studs, it needs a new set of summertires... otherwise it's full of fresh special parts so I'm thinking of... wait for it... breaking it up. or selling it...

Maybe i'll visit to do some video. my brother has a digicam with a sucktion mount. maybe i can borrow it.

Never been to the ring, my brother has been taken by the ringtaxi (m5) around it and liked it very much so now its time to see if i'm faster around it lol

btw: Joris, you're m46 is still holding up very good..! Thanks!

Going on a roadtrip? (Since it seems like 1900km from the Nurburgring)

Your car would be perfect, high revving 16V on the Nurburgring

So you can take it to the ring this year?
You know: always ask tb'ers for advice when fixing/selling/buying/changing car!

So the plan is to take a few rounds around the ring, see and talk to eachother and eachothers car? Sounds like a good plan haha ! BTW i've never been around the ring, should i begin preparing by taking my xbox360 around the ring a couple of hundred times?

It is still too cold!
many things to do:
- install custom intercooler + oilcooler inside the sharknose
- paint the bulkhead area
- install the engine.+ hookup ro radiator and intercooler
- relocate/adapt the brakebooster
- install wide band + MAP sensor+ hook up megasquirt
- install electric fuelpump + filter + return plumming.
- weld up and install 3" exhaust
- once it's running it needs to me tuned and tech inspected.

So you see, still plenty of work!
I'd be glad if i make it to EU7.0...!

Thank for the offer to help, i might do just that in case i don't get the MS-EFi working.

Nice, and your xbox will probably help, first time I was a passenger on the track surprised me how well I thought to know it, then you drive yourself and realize your car is quite a handful even if you drive slow.. and it's more a rally stage with all the bumps

These dates would be perfect so we can do a 2 day trip, first days of my holiday so I still have lots of time after the meet. (wife would be very pleased because I spent 3 weeks working on my cars previous years)

@Joris: You will have lots of time before the meet if it's for example 30/31 of July (or sooner but then it's just driving after 17:30)
