Current status ----
![]() It's not done quite yet but here is the progress so far... I traded Bergen a set of BBS RS wheels for this car with a hole in the engine. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay Detroit Diesel Green (one of my favorite colors. A large charter/fishing boat I spent a large part of my youth in/on had a Detroit Diesel painted in this color.) ![]() I bought a whole mess of suspension parts from Ben Weaver off of his old car "Vurbo" ![]() Cleaned up the coilovers and painted them to my liking. ![]() I removed the interior for some FatMat sound deadening. Its really cheap. 100sq ft is $130 shipped. My girlfriend herself how to install the stuff. She cleaned the floor boards and laid down the mat. ![]() For seats I recovered some Recaros from a VW or BMW or something. They were pretty ugly in the blue cloth. I think this suits them better. ![]() I wanted A/C in the car but to make the engine bay look neat and to keep me from blowing my brains out I opted for a much simpler (albeit less effective) A/C option... Its a KoolAir Swamp Cooler. I'll refinish it in silver and modern cooler media inside. ![]() I had a nice electric fan and a good radiator but had no shroud that looked cool. So I had this one custom made. ![]() I bought some pretty rare wheels... Oscam Turbo wheels. They are pretty sweet. Got the lips polished and the center stripped down. Still not quite sure how I want to do the centers. But I am waiting on o-ring information so I have some time. ![]() ![]() Car - 1977 Volvo 242 DL Engine - 1993 B230FT Oil Squirter Block RSI Waveguided Pistons RSI H-Beam rods 38mm stainless exhaust valves 46mm stainless intake valves 530 head with mild porting RSI ARP Headstud Kit RSI Stage II Turbo Camshaft RSI 8V turbo header with external wastegate ARP exhaust manifold studs Holset HX35 turbocharger Nathanmade intake manifold. Bad ass seats. Did you use suede in the center portion? And I love those colors.
Also where did you find those wheels? Are they 5x108 or are you going to need adapters? Last edited by jay f.; 05-25-2011 at 05:37 PM.. |

Would you mind if i painted my valve cover that color? I was going to paint it something like hunter green, but i think that detroit diesel green would be nicer

Absolutely awesome. I was in a diesel shop a few years ago and they had a Detroit diesel on a stand. I instantly thought the greenish blue would be an awesome color for a car. Glad someone agreed at least on the engine bay!
I'll be watching this, definitely gonna be a very cool build.

I was going to use the penta green on my block but I couldn't come up with any in time so I had to go with red. Maybe on the next one...I do like that general shade of green.

Would you consider going 2.4? Very nice tuning options available now..
