The 2012 East vs. West Competition
This is the first year I'm handling it, and really the first time I've been involved as more than an observer, so any suggestions or criticisms are welcome. Here's the rundown: Rules: (nicked from http://www.turbobricks.com/evw.php) Summary The "east vs. west" shootout was created by Pat D. (tuff240) to help motivate the group by creating a friendly yet competitive event we could all participate from our home towns. The goal is to lay down the fastest time you can and earn points for your side spending the time you have improving your times and power output to hopefully grab the bragging rights for the following year. So far the results have been: 2011 - East 2010 - West ( I know broken board but at the time West was way ahead and East lacked submissions) 2009 - West 2008 - West 2007 - East 2006 - West 2005 - East 2004 - West 2003 - East 2011 Thread 2010 Thread 2009 Thread 2008 Thread 2007 Thread 2006 Thread 2005 Thread 2004 Thread 2003 Thread How The Competition Works: Turbobricks members from each side (East Coast, West Coast, or International) visit a track throughout the course of the year, record their fastest 1/4 mile time and submit it to the contest admin. The idea is to work on your cars performance throughout the year returning to the track, grabbing more points, and updating your time. The points scheme is laid out to provide a much larger spread than in the previous years. It should be more motivating, making even a weekend of minor modifications rewarding at the track as well as for your team. Each side is divided up into 3 classes of cars, Turbocharged, Normally Aspirated, or "Hybrid" - a non-Volvo powered Volvo. Essentially there are now 3 competitions running simultaneously per side. Each class is equally important since the final victory in that class holds 1/3 of your sides total wins. At the end of each year all the points are tallied up for a final count in each vehicle class. The side with the majority of class wins is declared victorious and thus has the bragging rights for the next year. The Split: Please verify the side you are grouped in by state. The states are grouped as evenly as possible by member representation. The west gets Hawaii, the east gets Puerto Rico. If we have forgotten or over looked any other represented US, Canadian, or Mexican governed land masses please let us know so we can assign it a side. ![]() Countries outside of North America will run as a third category. Rules for Competitors:
How to Submit a Time Submitting a time is as simple as dropping me a PM. Posting in this thread will not guarantee that I'll see your post, so it is not a guarantee of time submission - just use a PM. If my PM box is full, drop me a line on AIM and I'll clean it out. I will need the following things from you for a verified submission:
When I get your PM, if I don't have enough time at that moment to submit it to the , it will go to the pending submissions list below. Submissions will be run through on a first come, first serve basis. Let's see some times! This is just a copy and paste from five years ago... Rules stay the same, as does the Game Mods Can I get a sticky and Please un-stick the 2010/2011. Leader board this year will be a simple excel that I will update and post capture of to keep track. Rough but works until Adrian gets his pimp board working again.

Just to clarify, an owner of multiple cars can gain points for his/her side for each car?

One entry Per side, that was the rules then and still is now IIRC. We might be able to start offering some kind of exception like it has to be different drive wheels. but we can always talk it out.
One time Per class . . . so turbo / n/a |

You have to still own the car at the end of the season (exceptions being it got wrecked/totaled and you didn't swap the powertrain into another vehicle. I.E. I pile the gold car into the wall on the 5th pass this year, and swap all that stuff into another shell real fast- can't count both) - Basically a separate projects/frequent seller type of rule. I don't think we'll see a massive uptick in submissions and looking around I don't really see it favoring either coast, and it potentially gets more people or cars out there. Incidentally I still think nitrous should be allowed in the NA class too, but I'll let Pat lead the discussion there since I caused that rule change ![]()

I went to the test and tune today at MIR. There were no lines. Max time waiting between sessions (no time, motorcycles, etc) was like five minutes.
I got a little over 20 runs - best run was 12.838@109..94 The tires are 205/50/16 toyo proxies (lolz) with a truetrack - best 60ft of the day was a 1.9, but the best run was a 2.055. ![]() |

I'll tell Roger-Dee to get his times in here. Think he ran a 7,5 1/8 and a 12,2 1/4 @ 122 mph so it would put him in first or second position? I too should be able to get good numbers if I can get my new injectors in time and tune this before race season is over...
Problem is, our local 1/8 track do not print the slips...
