Replaced the old expended steel insert with crimped stainless.

That looks GREAT. Wish I'd had my act together / aka conned you / for my 544.
Maybe there's an extra piece?

Those are just plastic covers. And yes, I'm going to do that soon.

I still have the original grille. If I want to put it back it'd be just a few minute thing.

I was inspired to do this last year when I went to an Italian car show. All those Maseratis and the old pre-war Alfas with this stuff.

I'm bringing this car to this year's Italian car show as it's technically a Bertoné.

I suppose I could subtle it down a bit and black it out.

If you wanna use that mesh(which is a nice weave), I'd put some of it behind the factory eggcrate, so it acts as sort of an inset background, a subtle detail.

I thought of that too....eventually. That was the biggest issue I had with mine.

I bought 12"x36" of this stuff and I have plenty of extra of what I have if you want some. Give me a measurement and I can send you some.
