My Feedback

mtd240: I suspect "the wives" have a super-secret forum to discuss whether or not they will let us buy Volvo parts.
DavidSamuels: Not a website, a panel discussion/reality show. Real Housewives of Gothenburg.

I had a great time even though I was only there a couple hours. Had to work the next day. It was great to meet the "local" Tb members, including the "local" Canadian members! Pete is a great host. Everyone chipped in and brought something. Wish I could have stayed longer.

Hopefully this will be an annual event?

Mike

Todd, you're dead to me. This is all your fault, incidentally... since you've got the footage hoarded and there hasn't been an SE video in like 5 years

Looks like a great time, guys!

I'll most likely be able to take care of this year's SE video. SE 9 just never panned out due to a lack of a modern computer capable of producing the video. I downloaded the digital footage, but Ithink all the tapes wound up in storage someplace.

Cetus!!! Thank you! I've been trying to remember the name of those wheels since I got them! They're my racing wheels. Currently wrapped in Hoosier R6's. No worries, either. The 433 paint is so dark it looks black most times. And thanks! It was super fun.

From what I recall Pete did say "take it out & have fun" or something to that effect. Part 2 to follow shortly.

Man, Tyler and Chris beat the crap out of my Miata! Lol. Good thing it's my crappy beater destined to be lemons raced.

And I think I said "go beat the **** out of it, I don't care about that car." lmao.

ian turns in too sharply, too fast. use more of the road. in some cases you can start turning earlier so you don't have to turn so fast and upset the balance of the car. you'd do fine on race tires, but street tires require planning ahead.

it all goes back to looking (and thinking) ahead so that you're not reacting to the course as it comes up.

i was generally in a better position to get on the gas earlier, so I was on it longer. could hear the difference in the exhaust sound.

I realized something else: Not having experience in big courses is a hindrance. I have done about 10 big courses, mostly at Fedex, but most of my autocrossing was on small lots, which were easy to get my head around. So for novices, this was a massive event.
The one part I needed to do better was the transition from the tight to the open part, (doubles) at the end of the section going away from the timing truck. It always caught me by surprise, so I never opened it up early there.
With a posi and a seat belt (and maybe power steering) Matt's car would be an animal. I really didn't feel the need for big power, esp. with the open diff. It was a pretty fast set-up.

Love the cars in the yard/tent idea. Looked like a blast! Wrong coast, but I won't fault you for that

You're both right. I felt I was behind on a lot of corners, not looking ahead enough, seeing the corner, and just going for it.. Looking further ahead was a suggestion made by one of the first instructors when I was with them, but it was just a lot to take in for my small mind

did you walk the course? a meaningful course walk can help. I catch a few important things, but I don't always remember to put that info to good use when I'm driving.

sign up and run scca at fedex sunday aug 19 (THIS sunday)
