Flat Black Paint Job???

I'm thinking about painting my wagon flat black. Currently the car is mostly Orange.... with some mismatched blue and black body panels. Every time I see it, I wanna kick it cuz it’s so ugly. Anybody have some tips about painting cars flat black or know of any good websites? This has gotta be cheap..... I'm talk'n Krylon cheap. Thanks,

I painted my car for $8 literally. I got satin spray paint from OSH.

If you use true flat black, the car will have a chaukboard effect, its a real pain in the ass. But the satin wont do that.

Hmmmm..... So Satin paint is the way to go. What brand of spray paint you would recommend? Your car looks great by the way. Thanks for the help,

I painted my 245t semiflat black last summer. Some people hate it while others think it looks wicked. My car is known as the "Death Wagon" @ work. A car in any flat color looks cool IMHO. They look even better slammed on the ground rolling on red steelies and white walls, with a small block V8 under the hood. <<.

I used the house brand at OSH (orchard supply house), it comes in a bigger can than the other brands.

One cool thing you need: There is an attachment that snaps onto the top of the can that makes it like a spray gun. it costs like $2 and makes painting it WAAAAY easier.

I shot my hood with Tremclad, 2/3 gloss, 1/3 flat black. Or was it 1/3 gloss 2/3 flat? (oh noes, I forget the formula!) Anyway, I shot it with my cheap ass HVLP and it came out NICE. I laid it on really heavy, and it took for damn ever to dry. I'm not sure I would try it on veritcal panels, and I'm pretty sure that it would bleed underneath tape 'cause it's so runny, but it was cheap and worked for the hood. It was also really soft for the first couple of days, and I didn't dare touch it with anything hard or sharp, but it's fine now that it's fully cured.

Mike's right about flat black and the chaulkboard effect. Flat black looks horrible when you touch it and the oil from your hands gets on it. Satin completely eliminates this problem.

not that rough, maybe like 400. You just have to knock off the sheen

Also, the worst part of flat black, is the "after the car wash" look. And it picks up dust etc, horrible.

Satin will look great

i did that with my jeep. painte it satin black..i use armorall to gloss it up. it made chrome stand out like a mofo
