Default Airdam progress+accident damage

So here is the airdam in it's current (very rough!!!) state. Lots of reshaping and whatnot yet, I haven't even settled on any dimesnions so that i can make it symmetrical, but this is the progress. I'm going to change the "hole" in the front so that I can run a front mount, but I won't do that until after I have made a mold, so that if anybody ever wanted one, they wouldn't be stuck with the huge front-mount hole.

Also are pics of my left d pillar. Some moron in a flatbed truck backed into my car. Anyways insurancve cut me a cheque for $750 and I figure it might cost me 100 bucks to fix it. So oh well.

Oh also the car has my winter wheels on it too

Default air dam

Great looking air dam Kenny. Smooth looking wagon. Around here the insurance company would have totaled the car for a hit like that. The estimate would have been more like $1.5k-2k to fix that in this area.

Best regards,

Looks awesome Kenny! Great work on blending it to the front wheel well! Hope it can easily go into production if that is route you are headed.
Ouch on the damage, though $650 ahead works nicely Hope the repairs go easily!

take care

Thanks for the thoughts guys!
The bumper is part of the airdam... well, at least it is now.
If I were to sell them basically you would need the aluminum "rebar" from the small plastic (83-85 or whatever is was) bumpers and then it would clip to the rebar. Sheetmetal screw into the fender lip on each side and yer done. I'm hoping to build sideskirts and a rear skirt
that "pull together" to really smooth out and modernize the car without overstating things too much.

The dent is fixed now I just need to paint it and pop the used window in, so that's good. The adjuster mentioned it being a writeoff and I just chuckled. It is one tenth the damage the car received when it was front ended last year, and they paid my 3600 bucks. :D

Wait till you see it metallic black....

Looking awesome as usual. Suxx about the damage, but 650 profit is way worth it!!!!!! I like the airdam, it blends in quite well. Are you still running that grill that's like JBwelded together in 25 places?

damn that car is sex, looks like that hood is painted on its so straight. Is that pillar bent any from the hit? a tug o war using a truck and some rope may get that straight if it is.

Good luck and dont ever stop

Hehe thanks guys. The pillar was definitely bent but I have a big scary slide hammer. A couple of well placed holes to pull from and it only needed about 1/4" of bondo at the deepest point. You'd never know it was hurt now. It took me about 10 hours to get it straight but that's still like making $65 and hour. hee hee.

John I changed the grille actually- instead of have two seams top and bottom I removed the chrome completely and then used two peice of chrome top and bottom so there is just a seam in the middle now. It was sortof a practice and it still isn't perfect but it doesn't break any more. I need to grab two more parts grilles and re-do it one more time and it should be perfect.

That's an awfully big spoiler for having so little in the way of ducting. You might as well take advantage of that thing and make an enormous cutout in the middle for the IC, otherwise whats the point.

Thanks Isaac. Read my very first post. Actually I'll quote it for ya:

"I'm going to change the "hole" in the front so that I can run a front mount, but I won't do that until after I have made a mold, so that if anybody ever wanted one, they wouldn't be stuck with the huge front-mount hole. "

Thanks for the insight though.
