Right now i cant seem to find my words as to what i really want to say, probably tomorrow when it sets in. However after sitting here starring blankly at his pbase images, his threads, and all the wonderful responses here... I know what im going to do for Matt:

I want to help complete his Adventure for him, in a volvo, by his friends, his "brick" family.

Following his route plan, i think as a "relay" we could, in time, finish Matt?s journey for him. Im willing to pick up where he left off and take it as far as I can on a weekend or two... or someone in that area can pass off to me and so on.

If people are on board with this, i'd like to transport some letters/gifts/etc all the way back to his family in Plano.

-Dana

think it would be nice to write a little letter to give to his parents, so someone can give it to them in name of the volvo community. I can't do more from here.

the other option is to mark of portions of his route as we can drive them... i.e. on our way to carlisle we will be able to mark off his path through some of PA i think

I have Matt's parents number now... if we could get everyone to leave a message, I'd love to pass it on to them.

Here is what would be really cool. Like Dana suggested, we continue the "epic" journey in some sort of relay. Whoever starts this begins with a card and the card is passed on to the next person and the next and so on. Each person that the card passes through signs it and then passes it on to the next. This would take a tremendous amount of planning and some substantial driving on some "legs" of the journey but it would be a way for lots to get involved. Perhaps a camera could be passed along as well and pictures taken of each "runner" and his/her vehicle at the beginning or end of his/her section of the "epic".

Unfortunatley, I probably can't be a part of this due to the distances between members in this part of the world. There are a bunch of us in Calgary but the closest to the east of us is in Estevan, Sask which is close to 10 hours away and the next to the east of that is probably in Ontario. I suppose we could look at running a leg south of Ontario and then back up into Saskatchewan through ND. To the west is a little more manageable with members in Kamloops and Vancouver and then south to Seattle...

Like I said, a lot of planning but with enough volunteers and co-operation, it can be done...

What does everyone think of this idea?

I like this idea.

I can get it to Vancouver from Kamloops. Kenny could (if willing) take it from vancouver to seattle? or so? then someone from there, down to oregon, etc etc.... I know there are a bunch in PNW. And there are a few in Vancouver.

Get it to me in Kamloops.... or I can take it to Jasper sometime and one of you albertans can pick it up there

Well.. talking to jordan as I am typing this. I would be thrilled if i could participate in this. He mentioned running this card to Estevan, then me running it to bismark. I could defaintely do that, not a problem at all! Or if another route is chosen i'm in on that as well, as long as it's not a million miles (although i trust my brick to take a million)

So whatever, i wanna do anything i can. I just want to be involved. If anyone wants to contact me, my msn name is speedw240@hotmail.com
Or anyone can email me speedw240@hotmail.com (same address)
And like Matt's journy, my trip would be by a N/A powered brick. :-)

I'm more than likely going to be driving from Ottawa to Windsor this summer. I could make a fair dent in the mileage there. Although I'm sure someone in the Toronto area might want to pick up the difference? Count me in.

Count the prik in on this one - I really like the idea, I was thinking that we might do something like that by mail - a card that we all signed and mailed to the next person - but that national/international relay would be really cool man - I think it would mean a lot to his familly as well.

Lets do this man - I will act as point person if no-one else will....

...have some time before the manifolds arrive.

Perhaps start a thread dedicated to this idea see who is interested?

Thoughts?

Let me know if I can do anyting from the midwest. I think a relaty trip around the country/N. America in Matt's memory would be great. His family and friends should at least see this message board to realize how Matt had an effect on so many people.

I am so in on this it's ridiculous. I'll take Montgomery to Orlando or Orlando to Monty or Atlanta to Orlando or Orlando to Atlanta. Sign me up. I've got the camera and my brick is ready to go.
