I stole 5 tps's from the jy yesterday and all of them were only wot throttle switches. What kind of car can I pilfer to get one that will work with minimum hassle? This is a crappy run of the mill junkyard with mostly american pieces of crap.

volvo 850 has a potentiometer type tps as do some of the ford's apparently.
I used an 850 tps and cut about 1/2" off the throttlebody shaft. All the WOT switch type tps's I've seen usually click @ wot when you operate them, this should save you time determining what type it is, also just take the DMM with you to the scrap yard and measure the resistance. Laters Nick |

Where do you guys get the 850 TPS's? My usual sources (car-part.com, eeuroparts.com) aren't turning anything up....the dealer would be my last option!

Nissans have nice ones that are no harder to install than the 850 style. Some Nissan TPS have a WOT switch and Variable so you could theoretically still use LH. The TPS on newer Saturns is $30 new and variable.

I used a TPS from a digifant VW, Had it lying around from a previous MS install. All you need to do to make it work is cut down the throttle shaft, file it so it is flat on both sides(not D shaped) and make a small plate to adapt the bolt patterns. Might be a little easier to find than the 850 tps or the infiniti/nissan one...

That's exactly what you have to do to use the 850 TPS, but the 850 one fit's on the d shaft.
You don't necessarily have to make a plate for it to fit you can always jb weld it Laters Nick |

I went to pick up an 850 TPS from my local Volvo wrecker ... but the owner talked me out of it because he sold too many.
I got a new one through a MoTeC distributor, purely the whole car's pretty-much brand-new & I wanted new sensors. However, they only sell gear that's already on the market but which works with the MoTeC; unfortunately I don't have the car here so I can't tell you what it is (however I have a feeling it might even have had the GM brand stamped on it ... what's it called ... ah yeah, Delco). The good thing is that it had the D-shaft on it, although I did need to make-up a bracket to fit it (it was rotated 90 degrees to the way I needed it). |

Dude, they are like $5. Run a search for TPS and username n xntrx volvo and you will find a whole thread that talks about usable TPS's.

I actually got a ford taurus one. It fits, and the holes in it line up with the holes in the bracket for the stock tps

How much did Motec sting you for one of there TPS's? Also a contributing factor to them failing on an 850, isn't the TPS right next to the rad hence it will see a lot more extreme heat cycles than it would in a RWD config. Laters Nick |
